got a 96 blazer 4x4
the tranny seems to slip when I'm going over 55, if i hit the gas to speed up it just revs higher and take a few seconds to act catch and start going, i checked the fluid and it all seems fine and i did have a tranny flush about 13000 ago so it shouldn't need another one.
so does anyone knwo what this seems to be,
also when it does actaully catch into gear and go it does it smoothly.
just an added note it seems to be using alot more gas now to
this all started today
cheers

That sounds like the torque convertor is not unlocking.

actually i got lucky and it turned out to be something stupid, there was snow covering up the rad so it wasn't getting much air so the tranny was overheating causing the od to not work right.
so cleaned off all the snow and it works perfectly once again
but thanks for the advice!

Is there a good way of finding out if the TC is locking? I have an '89 4.3 and without a tach, I can't tell if it's locking.

You still should go get your transmision cooler and tranny flushed and refilled and a new filter installed.
Sounds like you are do for a service.

yeah theres an easy way to see if your TCC is engaging. Get the truck up to speed, with one foot on the brake the other on the gas, push the brake pedal only slightly while the other foot is on the gas. If its working, you will hear the engine rev up slightly, and you will feel a slight change in speed as it unlocks. You have to make sure the engine is at operating tempature, and that you are going fast enough for the TCC to lock up in the first place. Make sure everything is off like your radio, and your heater fan, it will make noticing it a lot easier.

I have a 98 blazer with less than 60000 miles on it and I had to completely replace the transmission back in Sept. I lost 3rd and 4th on a freeway.
