I'm having new tires put on tomarrow Dunlop FM90's. I was able to get 40,000 miles out of the stock bridgestones.
Is that good or did I chew them up before thier time?
I drive everyday about 60miles a weekday, weekends are not traveld much in my car.
Also my brakes seem to be doing very well. Whats the avg. life span of the stock pads that come on the car?
I'm at 40,000miles. When I do replace them I will go metallic, premium pads.
I can and will do my own brakes ( I do all my own light maintenence)

40,000 is reasonable for a set of tires, I have 30,000 on my current set and will definitely be replacing them over the summer.

cant really neccesarily put a lifespan on brakes its all dependant on the driver, wehre u drive how often you brake etc....kinda hard to give you a general lifespan

My stock potenza tires lasted 8,000 miles.
Replaced with g-force tires, lasted 9,000 miles
Just bought tires with 50,000 mile warrenty, hopefully the'll last at least 15k!!!!!
My car has 18,000 miles and I have replaced the front brake pads.

I would like to see your driving style. :eek7:
I live in Baltimore, treat the beltway like a speedway, and have just turned 31,000 on the original tires and brakes.

I hear the stock Potenzas are not very good at all so I think FrogBones got good use out of them.

I'm at around 15,000 miles, and I'm about to replace the stock RE92 tires, but they've been to more than a couple autocrosses, so if you're just street driving you should get more life out of them.

That's how my drive to work is :evillol:

I drive only on country backroads-I work at a lake and the road to work is like an 8 mile long racetrack, I know the road too well. Just the other day some guy in this $100,000 plus italian(I don't know what the hell it was, but it was fast as hell on the straights) car was in front of me, I caught up to him and he started driving harder and harder, until he almost lost it. Then I passed him. As he turned his head and saw me passing, he looked very confused. Sidewall flex seemed less on the stock tires than the g-force(sport) tires on 17"s. (stock on 16's)

HEY FELLAS...keep in mind that Subaru does cover brakes under the warranty. My wife just had new brake pads on her Forester before she sold it...it's all free.

To upgrade the brakes and get more stopping power, or to leave the brakes stock and have them free for the life of the warranty... that is the question.
