Mornin' Readers,
Have an '02 with a horn that doesn't sound like it would scare a cat. Anyone have any problems with the horn going bad? Is there anything I can check to correct the problem, or should I just replace it?
Thanks.

Mine sounded HORRible, so i started looking around the truck, and noticed that it had 2 horns, and only 1 was working. I replaced the one on the passenger side and it sounds 100 times better.

Hey, thanks for the info Jayson. I really appreciate it. Where are the 2 horns located, I'll have to check it out. That's probably what it is. For the one you replaced, is it a universal horn, or do I have to ask for something special for the silverado?

Ummm..they're both located on either side of the bumper, mounted somewhere behind it. I can't remember the part numbers off the top of my head. I'll try to get it this weekend for you.

Weird my Passenger side horn died too. The one on the driver side is a bitch to change if you ever have to. It's behind the turn signal assembly and squished between the Washer reservoir and the battery holder probably an hour or 2 just to get it out.
Soooo, I took the 2 horns out of my Dad's 78' Buick Park Avenue and mounted them where the one was on the Passenger side. Way easier to get too. Crawl under the passenger side of your truck and look right behind the bumper, Can't miss it. No extra wiring is required to change horns. Luckily Chevy uses relays and you can throw on any ol'horn set you like. People jump when I hit my horn now 3 horns....It's loud.
My wife's car was the same 2000 Impreza with one stock wimpy little horn. Whipped that puppy out of the garage and installed a set of Loud European Air Horns. They get attention when needed too...
