91' cavalier 4 cyl. won't start......

I turn the ignition and the engine wants to crank but it just screeches. Battery is fine. I want to make sure that it is the starter and not electrical. how can I make sure of this? what should it sound like when the benix is broken or not working properly?

sounds like a bad starter to me.

Yeah your starter motor solenoid is sticking. This can be cured by whacking the starter and as it can free the solenoid but it will need replacing, Either this ot the teeth on the starter wheel are worn and/or the teeth on the outer edge of the flywheel!
