Hello,
I just got my Uncles 93 Blazer and I think that the gas filter needs to be changed. It has a hard time turning over sometimes and it idles funny. Any idea how hard it is to change the gas filter for a novice like myself? Or think it could be somethig else?

The filter on a '93 is on the inside of the frame rail and is held on by a strap. The strap requires a 10mm wrench to remove and the filter is 5/8" and 11/16" on the lines. Start by cracking the lines and letting the pressure relieve itself. When the pressure is relieved, finish removing the lines and then remove the 10mm bolt holding the strap. Change the filter and ensure that the arrow indicating flow is pointing to the engine. Put the strap around the filter and remount but do not tighten it yet. Attach your lines and hand tighten them. After the filter has found where it wants to be in relation to the strap, tighten the strap and then tighten the lines. Shouldn't take you very long to do it. Good Luck and you will see it is a piece of cake.

If it is the engine with the orange vortec on top of the motor, your starting problems are more than likely caused by a bad CPI injector.

If thats the case what do I do then? I don't want to sound stupid, but this a new car for me and I dont really know anything about it. The only other car I have owned was an acura integra so im a little lost with this blazer. Thanks!

Remove the ornage vortec plate.

Remove the round IMTV valve in the top of the engine under the vortec plate.

Look in the hole with a flashlight and look for golden washed spots and pools of gas. Also smell for gas.

Changing out the filter is still not a bad idea for a good start.
