Hi,

I'm new to this forum as some of you may notice. I just got my eclipse about 4 weeks ago, 02' Gs. I was just wondering if modifying your car voids the warranty or not....thanks

There is no warrenty left on your car. If it has more than 30K your out. If you bought an extended warrenty from a dealership call them up and ask. But US laws states that if the product that has become defected must of been a direct result of the modification. If I can find the statute I'll post it.

if the dealership can prove that the product caused the failure, then it will void the warranty. however, some dealerships will say that any mod will void the warranty. then there are some dealerships that dont care. it all depends on the dealership. however, turbo/supercharger WILL void the warranty

yea the new car warranty runs out at 36 isn't it? and you still have the 60k powertrain warranty on it

yea, i've got the extended 60k. The car was bought by the original owner on 3/28, so doesn't that mean the factory is good until 3/28? I'm not sure, i was reading the manual today and couldn't find an answer :/

I was mainly concerned about the tick, but i read up on the 3g forums that it has to do with types of oil and the oil filter.

The tick? Is it coming from the top of your engine, and speeds up when you give it a little gas? If so, my car did the same thing for a while. It went away after about 200 miles though. I never had a SES light go on, so i really didnt worry about it. The dealership said it was a normal thing the engine did somtimes.

lol thats the same thing my is at the dealership for right now .... and they are having to rebuild my engine ... get under your car and see if the tick is even louder ... have someone hit the gas while under it and if it even louder get that thing to the dealership ... they replaced everything on the top of my engines valves, etc ... and the tick was still there on the bottom ... I had broke a wrist pin.

thanks a lot for the help. my tick is mainly when the engine is first starting up for the day, once it warms up i can't really notice it, nor do i notice it when actually driving. I guess i'll just have to keep a close ear on it. thanks again
