acorns in the blower

I have a unique problem.
Living amongst the redwoods and oaks, the problem is squirrels.
The Kia is parked in an open end carport and the squirrels have decided it's a great place to store their stashes of acorns.
The acorns have gotten into the blower asy fan and when turned on, trashed the fan wheel spokes.
Problem is: cannot figure how the acorns got into the ductwork to begin with. There's also a problem with field mice on occasion.
I know the air duct draws incoming air on the driver's side of the cowling but the grillework is too small for acorns to get thru.
Does anyone have any ideas as to other possible entry points to the ductwork?
Would appreciate any advice short of closing in the carport, killing all pests or moving.
Thanks

I guess they do it from inside the car: have you ued the A/C in recirc mode? did you leave windows opened? there is a large air intake from inside the car at floor level: turn off RECIRC with engine running before leaving car with windows opened.

The AC hasn't been used for awhile (especially w/ this problem) and we never leave the windows open when parked at home or anywhere.
Have read about the RECIRC but again hardly ever use it.
I know the rodents are not getting inside the car but somehow are accessing the ductwork from outside.
I did find an opening in the right fender under the hood where wiring is run thru and closed up that one w/ crushable screening. Not sure that even is connected somehow?
I'm about ready to present this mystery to the Click and Clack Bros.

OK, I gave it a try! They have tricks hard to understand! I'd be puzzled indeed! ANd they know how to adapt our technical environment for their benefit.
