AW4 Trans?

Stupid question, but how can I tell if my 97 Jeep Cherokee Country 4x4 has an AW 4 transmission?

The AW4 has a rectangular pan with no diagnal corners.

xjs with 4.0 the only automatic is the aw4

A good tranny, at 98K no problems.

Not sure but mine has a drain plug in the rear of the pan, might be an identifing feature. Mine is the AW4. Also they(AW4) have 19 bolts that hold it to the tranny.

Unless the driveshafts are differant, I would say probably. As long as its to a 4.0.
