Knowing that Kerry is back at his old job of not showing up in the Senate for more then a few days a year makes me quite happy:bananasmi

Things are getting off on the right foot. Social Security should be scrapped, but I'll take as much privatization as I can get. No fiscal conservative could ever stomach the wastefulness of Social Security in its current state. At best you get a 1% return on your money. Considering that your employer (or you if your self employed) is kicking in 12.5% of your salary on top of your 12.5% and you can’t do better then 1? Those folks who can’t save should stay with the program as it is. The rest of us will be just fine without it.

Tax reform. Long overdue. The congress will never allow the system to be scrapped. To many special interests (for all sides) to let their pet deductions go away. See my signature for just a tiny little sample of lunacy that is our tax code. But, any simplification will be good news for nearly everyone.

The Iraqis will be going to the polls in a week or so. Though people will complain about what led up to it, the fact is that the people there will cast their vote for who they want in leadership roles. Its unfathomable to me that some folks don’t want this to happen. What would they suggest? Let a civil war break out and see who’s left standing? Though some have called for boycotts of the election, those are also the groups that have smaller percentage of the population. Sitting out and not participating will gain them power? How? Short of a civil war that breaks up the country, their best bet to be in the decision making is to elect their representatives and go from there.

Spending outside of homeland security is being held at below the rate of inflation. Finally, a little bit of fiscal restraint. There needs to be wholesale cuts to reduce the 2.5+ TRILLION dollars of spending each year. Insane. There are only a few countries on the planet that even have a GDP that high and the federal government spends it all. Consider the half trillion that the states bring in, there is enough money out there already. Wait till April for my next tax rant :2cents: With tax revenues on the rise and spending locked in place, the budget will balance itself out in a few years, but ONLY if congress can hold the line on spending and the president can find that damn veto stamp.

I hope he pushes for school vouchers so parents can determine where their children go to school. Putting the choice in the hands of the people is a whole lot more important that putting the power in the teachers union. Yes, the teachers know how to teach, but the shouldn’t be the ones determining where the children must be sent.

As a final item, I will aslo have another four years of being entertained by the real mouth frothers, sore losers and the lunatic fringe. Not many of them around here, but stopping at the DU for a laugh once and awhile is going to be much better with Bush in the Whitehouse. :lol:

knowing that bush only has four more years at the helm of our nation is what makes me happy.

i know you have high hopes for bush's fiscal policy. id love to see a balanced budget as well, but given the past four years, and the ability of republicans in general to believe that cutting taxes while spending more money is a good thing, not to mention all spending EXCEPT "homeland security" spending (whatever broad, all emcompassing banner that may be) is down while im sure this "homeland security" spending is preposturously out of control. i have my doubts

and as far as iraqi elections go, they dont mean squat until america leaves. holding an election under the barrell of the gun of an occupying force is about as ridiculous as can be. dont be suprised if the largely fundamentalist muslim population still manages to elect representatives that will act more as america's pawns than as actual leaders, and for whatever government is in place to fall within a year of american troop departure.

Good for Bush. It's nice to see that he was able to manipulate the populace into beleieving he was the better man. All in all that is the president's job when it comes for re-election and he won.

Congrats you monkey-looking goofbag.LOL

I just hope that Bush actually attempts to do the things that he said he would do. Accomplishing a balanced budget would be nice, but I think I'd rather take my own money away from Social Security and put it somewhere else. According to the SS administration, I've earned $800 a month for life once I am of age or become disabled. I'll never see it, of that I'm sure.

Another four years of one of the most entertaining, double-speaking, fumbling, bumbling, inept, good humored, moron we've ever had for president.
Thank God we have the courts to keep him from doing anything too stupid though... :2cents:
So when's 2008? :p

Considering all of the Democrats stuffin voting boxes to the point where there are more votes than there are people in some areas, I'd say that anything that republicans might have done are nothin compared to dems.

I agree with ya on almost everything Yogs. gotta dissagree on the school vouchers though. Quite frankly they would just be an economic drain and IMHO youd have a lot of the same problems with them as you have with affirmative action.

Bush would be the ultimate President if he would have said the following in the past.

U.N.
"Mr. President we have a problem with you invading Iraq and don't want you to proceed with this."

President Bush
"U.N., you got a problem with that, know what you should do? You should sanction me. Sanction me with your army. OH! WAIT A MINUTE! YOU DON'T HAVE AN ARMY! I guess that means you need to shut the (bleep) up! That's what I'd do if I didn't have no army, I would shut the (bleep) up. Shut - the - (bleep) - UP! That's right!"

Reporter
"Mr. President is it true you're invading Iraq for their oil and not the WMDs?"

President Bush
"Oil? Bitch we say something about cooking?"

I hope that Bush gets the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US. The UN is a chicken shit outfit. Not a backbone to be found.

Its going to be a good four years :iceslolan

oh,well........the rest of the world can only take comfort that he can't be re-elected next time.And UN with no spine is better than a POTUS without brains, without compassion, without credibility and without the decency to drill a round into the side of his own skull.Here's hoping that someone else does it before he completely fucks up the world.

Oh contraire, the UN has fucked up many places in the world for a long time. Its way past time that cesspool of spineless cowards and unelected bureaucrats is eliminated before it can do any more damage.

The UN certainly needs retooling.I doubt if anyone could have forseen the abuses of its intent when it was first set up. The 5 permanent members of the Security council were given the right of veto over every resolution.

Between its inception and 2002, the USA vetoed over 70 resolutions, usually going against the wishes of the majority of countries.

Iraq ignored UN resolutions,breached the Geneva Convention, and was believed to have weapons of mass destruction.
The American response? Fly in the face of UN advice and invade.

Israel has also repeatedly ignored UN resolutions,breached the Geneva Convention, and is known beyond doubt to have weapons of mass destruction.

America's response? Funding for Isreal to the tune of 18,000 MILLION dollars per year.

In 1981 alone, The USA vetoed 18 United Nations resolutions concerning Israel. These included resolutions that:

demanded that Israel cease excavations in areas of East Jerusalem (considered by the United Nations to be part of the occupied territories);
condemned Israel for bombing Iraqi nuclear installations;
condemned Israeli policy regarding living conditions of the Palestinian people;
attempted to establish a nuclear weapon free zone in the Middle East;
demanded that Israel renounce possession of nuclear weapons;
attempted to establish rights for the Palestinian people;
attempted to clarify the status of Jerusalem;
discussed Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip;
concerned the rights of displaced Palestinians to return to their homes;
looked at revenues from Palestinian refugees' properties;
concened the establishment of the University of Jerusalem for Palestinian refugees (119 to 2); condemning Israeli human rights violations in occupied territories;
condemned Israel for closing of universities in occupied territories;
opposed Israel's decision to build a canal linking the Dead Sea and the Mediterranean Sea across the occupied West Bank;
discussed sovereignty over national resources in occupied Palestine and other Arab territories;
affirmed the non-applicability of Israeli law over the Golan Heights.
Time and again the overwhelming will of the international community has been thwarted by the USA's protection of Israel. In 2002, Israel blocked a United Nations enquiry into the events in Jenin where the United Nations Commission for Refugees reported that Israeli soldiers smashed medical equipment even though there was no fighting. In Jenin the Israelis stopped medical help getting through. Stopping rescue services from treating the injured is a violation of the Geneva Conventions.

On 28th March 2001 the USA vetoed a United Nations resolution calling for the deployment of unarmed monitors to the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip. In November 2002, the USA vetoed a resolution condemning the killing of a British United Nations aid worker, Iain Hook who was 54. In October 2004, the USA vetoed a United Nations resolution condemning the killing of over 150 people, nearly half of them children, by Israeli forces in Gaza.

Between 1945 and 2002, there have been 116 cases of economic sanctions against countries. 80% of these have been initiated by the USA alone, often against the wishes of the international community and the trade agreements that the USA has signed. The United Nations estimates that more than 50% of the world's population is subject to unilateral coercive sanctions by the USA. These sanctions "were not authorised by the relevant organs of the UN".

The UN needs retooling to prevent exactly the kind of self-serving and imperialist abuse that it was set up to end.

The gutless pricks who whine that it isn't working should look to their own doorstep to see why.

YogsVR4
01-27-2005, 10:21 AM
Ah, if those damn Israelies would just kill themselves off there wouldn't be any resolutions to veto. :rolleyes:

Cowardly pussies like Chirac and Anan and their ilk would rather lick the ass of the Saddams of the world then actually stand up to them. The organization isn't worth the sewage produced in it. To bad there are still so many pathetic people that support.
