My brothers looking to change his air intake, its basically a stock
'98 Imprezza Turbo, with a Magnex rear exhaust box (which seems to
have helped things) but he's looking for induction kit.
Maybe K&N or HKS, any advise on best tuning tips
Thanks alot.

Forget that. Waste of time and money. THink about it. THe only way to gain power from freer flowing filter is to let more dirt in too. Get a large front mount intercooler and you will definately notice the difference.

I would check out the G factor filter which gets air from the best location... next to the intercooler where it attaches to the scoop. Check out there site www.gfactorwrx.com

Ones on the top, ones on the front. hehe. No, seriously -
Pressure loss. Every intercooler will lose a certain amount of pressure across it's surface. Front mounts cool more efficiently therefore lose less pressure and give you more power because the turbos blowing more air.

They do cool the air better but they actually lose pressure due to the turbo having to push air over more surface... As well the piping to the TB from the IC will actually give you even more lag

go with the ganzflow from COBB tuning...gives the best dyno proven gains, and it's very inexpensive.
