A few kit questions (specific kits and general manufacturers)

HI,

I've spent a fair while searching this site so hope I don't get shot down for asking the following questions.

I'm just getting back intomodelling over the last month and only kits in progress at the moment are Tamiya Enzo (seems like everyone else beat me to it but great kit) and Tamiya 360 Spider.

I've found some great kits on import sites (I'm in UK) but have a few questions before I pay a fortune for shipping.

I only know Tamiya and have read a lot of threads regarding Fujimi, Hasewaga, Aoshima etc. There are some fantastic looking Aoshima kits out there so will invest in some of those (after reading good reviews).

I've read some questionable comments about Fujimi kits and also a lack of p/e parts - maybe a dumbe question but what does p/e mean?

Specifically for Fujimi, they do some standard Lamborghini models and deluxe versions - Diablo and Murcielago - but can anyone tell me the diff between the standard and deluxe? and are these actually good kits?

I've read some negative comments about the standard Diablo but is the deluxe any different?

Also does anyone know if the veilside porsche 964 is any good?

p/e = Photoetched. A technique that make it possible to reduce things that are "flat" to a much smaller size. Things like nuts,boltheads,cromescripts, e.t.c. The name photo- comes from the manufacyuring method; they`re using photonegatives (?) in the process..

Photoetched are small metal part that give you extra details on your model. The lambo Deluxe have few small Photoetched parts while the non-deluxe don't. Beside that, they are exactly the same kit.

as for the veilside porsche 964, I think Cadguy did one and had some issue (as always with Fujimi)

PE - means photoetched. They are small trees of real metal parts that enhance the look of certain parts of your models. Typically they are mesh screens, brake disks, and the various emblems and scripts. They look much better than decals but are difficult to work with at first. If placed correctly they look very nice, and add some realism..

The Fujimi deluxe kits have some PE parts included in the kits. The standard kits do not. All of the Murcielago kits are nice kits.

The Blackstar Diablo kit was a disappointment for me. It does not come with decals, but peel and stick stickers. Very poor on fujimis part I think.

I highly recommend Aoshima's kits!!:sunglasse Fujimi can be a big gamble but sometimes they're the only game in town for certain kits.:(

Well I've already ordered the Fujimi Murcielago deluxe and will probably order a nice Aoshima custom from the same place to reduce the shipping - they do a nice looking accord wagon!
Might get some rims at the same time!
