Retard timing for NO2?

I'm about to go to the track and this will be the first time I have my nitrous hooked up to this motor. Think I should retard my timing a bit? (if so isn't that bringing the dizzy back toward the back of the car?) it's been a while I forget.
Also what do you think I should shift at on my a1?

yea retard the timing around 2 degrees and to be real safe get plugs that are one step colder. you might want to shift a little bit earlier than you normally would when on the bottle. dont hit the rev limiter when your juicin! bad things happen then, nitrous backfires, bent rods, smoked ringlands...
a window switch would be a wise investment..turns the nitrous off before rev limiter...

retarding the timing. Turn the distributor towards the front. Advance timing is moving it toward the firewall.

Don't retard it too much or your motor will start to ping. Also, why do you have to spray such a nice motor? Take the time to build it dude, and don't risk blowing up such a nice ride.

your a baby if your scared of the bottle! you obviously have never driven a car on the bottle! its the shit man, you wont ever want to go back. with only a 50 shot, just retard the timing 2 degrees, (towards the front of the car) and if you can get a step colder plug and your set. i wouldnt go anything over a 50 on a dry though. i jsut dont trust em. remember on your crx you will need a blowdown tube to be legal at the track (dont know if you have one) a bottle warmer would be real helpful to be ultra consistant.

I have a bottle warmer, and 2 of my friends ran their dry systems without blowdown tubes so I donno about that...

are you completely stock? is the exhaust stock?
i have a b18 also in my 90 si and i was running 15.4 with the stock exhaust. then i cut a section of the exhaust off just before it turns into 1 3/4.so this way i had a 2 to right behind the back tire. i was able to get 14.9. at 92mph. but i don't have much experience.so ya anyway lol.

yea i was gonna say you should run low 15's high 14's stock with a b18! on the bottle you should be pushin low 14's high 13's with good tires though...but still, sounds like the gas wasnt workin..

The rule of thumb is 1 degree per 25 shot. Also, dont hit the rev limit while spraying.

you don't have to retard on a 50sht. hell i always had mine adv on my integ LS. i had 75sht.. but you will be fine just run it the way it is. you motor can take 50 in it's sleep.

All information sent out with NOS kits say 2 degrees per 50 shot, and 2 more to be safe. Plus run two heat ranges colder on your plugs.
Dry kits can be iffy on a stock motor, unless you find some way to get the extra fuel.

true on the plugs, get colder ones. My zex kit that i had said adv the timeing not retard it. anything over 50sht should be adv 2deg.
opp's my bad here i guess you to retard damn!!! :screwy:

uhhmmmm... dry kits do add extra fuel. they increase fuel pressure in teh fuel rail so the injecters squirt more volume with every pulse. you cant squirt nitrous without extra fuel or the motor goes boom, from being really lean

A dry kit is just that. A single shot of nitrous. How is it going to add extra fuel, unless you do it some other way.

well your dry kit as a little blue chamber that holds fuel press, that is what keep the car from blowin up. you don't need a fuel pree reg if you are running a dry kit, the little blur thing does that for you.
as for dry being bad, how? you like gas getting squerted into your intake with noz. then the gas just kinda sit's there and builds up grap in you intake......woohoo sounds like fun.

Wow..there isnt a lot of people on here that are experienced with nitrous is there?! the difference between a "wet" kit and a "dry" kit is that in a wet kit nitrous and gas are squirted through the nozzle on a dry kit just nitrous is shot through the nozzle. on a dry kit there has to be another way to get fuel into the combustion chamber along with the added nitrous, wich for example the zex kit (wich is the most popular of the dry kits) adds more fuel by running a vacum line to the fpr so that when you hit the full throttle switch (in a zex its run to the tps sensor) it bumps the fuel presure up to compensate for the amount of nitrous you are spraying, therefor using your injectors to add the extra fuel.
you always have to add more fuel with nitrous other wise you cause a very lean condition and detonation and boom no more ringlands, or bg holes in your pistons. thats why there arent that many dry kits out there (zex venom...)they are only as relieable and safe as the stock fuel system.

Bumping fuel pressure up a tad, is not a safe way to compensate for a "dry" shot of nitrous. If you are going to run a cheapo zex 50 shot, have at it. ut if you will be running a decent shot, those extra psi of fuel pressure arent going to help.
