I was driving home tonight and caught a race with some kids, after the race the guy tried to do a ricer flyby and I down shifted from 4 to 3 but it wassnt enough, I double clutched and shifted to 2nd but missed and hit 4th instead, Imidiately a double clutched and dropped it in 2nd, caught it and held it to red line then back into 3rd. it worked but as soon as I stopped at a red light I could smell something burning, kinda like when you catch a bag on your exhaust and it burns. I got home imidiately and popped the hood, the smell is comming from atop the transmission, I guess I burnned a little clutch. How much damage does this do? I've seen a clutch plate before, I know its like a brake pad in that it wears down, is it also like a bakre pad that when it burns it just smells but no major damage......or could I have more damage then I think I did?
I guess my question is how dangerous is that burnt clutch smell?

You're worried about a burnt clutch? Don't worry. A burnt clutch is nowhere near as dangerous as racing on public roads. In fact, it may even save some lives by keeping you off the road.

u realy must of worked ur clutch... it doesent sound like anything u did would hurt the clutch if u shifted right... 3-4 is cool... but i dunno 4-2 unless u were at a low speed... if it wasent red in 2 then u should be fine... its all about u shifting right... if were shifing and only lightly pressing the clutch or pressing it with the gas down then ya ur gunna burn it... but if u were just working it like normal then it was probably just the fast amout of use in a small amout of time...

What the hell you talking about, he tried to downshift from 3-2, but missed and hit 4th instead. So of course the 4-2 downshift is alright.

Musachi's clutch is jsut wearing if it really is the clutch, it may be draggin and you are probably loosing power. No problem. upgrade with a stronger clutch and lighter fluywheel, lol. No but seriously. i doubt downshifting liek that was what made your lcutch burn. are you sure it was the clutch, the smell of a burnt clutch is almsot nausiating, id rather smeel skunk than clutch...
