I have an Ultra Starter 4560XR 2-Way remote start with alarm, for those who don't know what it is visit http://ultrastarters.com/starters/3560_4560.htm

anyways this was install in my truck when I had it, it was an automatic, now I bought a standard integra and I would like to use this in my car without having to purchase a whole new module like the person who installed it said I would.. is there anyway to just over ride the clutch some how so this remote start will work?

yeah there is. just tie the 2 wires together on the clutch pedal switch.

and it should work without a problem then?

yeah it will. All that wire does is say that the clutch is engaged (for safety reasons so you cant start the car while its in gear). Just be careful and never park in gear. My friend has a nissan with this setup and hes started it while it was in gear and it drove away...

Actually the proper way is to use a relay to interupt(or connect) the clutch switch circuit. Personally, I would not recomend doing this to a manual car. I don't do it in my shop.

civickiller's got it. if you look at the clutch pedal there are i believe 2 buttons(one against the firewall facing out and the other up in there facing forward) that top one needs to be disconnected(its just a plug) and jumped with something such as a paperclip. i wouldnt use a paperclip though.

its not a bad thing as long as you can remember to leave the car in neutral

Sounds like a good idea... i wouldnt recommend it if you like to park your car in gear, because chances are you will forget.

Yep. Just talked to a guy today that self installed one and had it in there for about a month. Forgot that he had it in gear and it went through his house!!!!

lmao that would be a hilarious story to tell the insurance people when they call to ask you how your car was in a wreck with no people invovled.

the guy that had it run into his house is even better... "honey I decided we needed a quicker way into the garage"

The funnier thing was that he was more pissed at having to fix his 12 year old Explorer than fixing his house!

The shitty part is I am an installer and should no better. I put off installing a safety when I installed my remote start alarm on my manual. I came home from a BBQ and had my hands full and accidently activated the remote start. I watched my car start, take off, and run into a tree. Another shitty thing was that i just put my body kit on. LOL. Damage wasnt that bad but enough to piss me off. I come to realize it wasnt a rookie move on my part but my girls fault for bitching so much about the time I spend in the garage.

All the stories about cars driving through their houses have to be vehicles with some serious power or pwople who do not use their parking break. I have in 5spd integra with a remote start and have on a few occasions started the car with it in gear and the parking break engaged and all the car does is jerk and stop. THe duration on the remote start crank is not long enough to actually move the car with the parking brake engaged. I highly doubt your integra will go anywhere if you try to start it in forst gear with the parking brake engaged unless your foot is planted on the gas.

I say do it. Remote starts kick ass and if you leave your car in gear with the parking brake engaged the worst thing that will happen is you will get into a cold car. Now I can;t vouch for what happens when the parking brake is off but if you leave your brake off ou deserve whatever comes to you anyway.

Not true. All cars can easily move with the car in 1st gear(which is where most leave it) and with the parking brake on. See, the problem would be with those that use tach sensing instead of voltage(I bet that's what you have). With tach sensing, my remote starters will crank up to 8 seconds. The wost part is that they will retry to start the car 3 times so yes, in that time, you can do a lot of damage. Just ask the guy I know that had his Civiv hit 3 parked cars and pushed a small boat over an embankment(yes, his car followed the boat too) :banghead:

The last I found funnier. This Ford tech wanted to install a RS in his 5speed Explorer. Of course I explained the problems but he was so sure that he'd be carefull how he parked it. So I told him what to do and extra things he should buy to help kill it if it did take off. Ofcourse he decided to not pay attention to what I said. Well, the truck ran into his house. He was more pissed at having to get a new bumper for this 10 year old POS than the damage to his house!!!!
