Stupid Brake caliper wrench question... help, please

Hi! I have a 96 Grand Am. We're trying to simply change the front pads, but the idiot at the auto parts store gave me the wrong caliper wrench, TWICE. First he consulted his ever so handy book which didn't list the proper tool for a 96, but he assumed it was a 3/8 star wrench and gave me that. Nope, not it... so then I go back and he gives me a 3/8 allen wrench. nope, not that. Someone save my sanity (and the life of the auto parts idiot) and tell me if you know what size allen wrench it should be.... Or just direct me to a site where I can find out.

Thanks so much!

Sorry my friend but on mine It is a 3/8 inch allen wrench. Good luck fitting it to yours.

The wrench too big or is it too small, what bolt head does the bolt have?

Its a allen size, they differ from GM car to car. They usually have a assortments of size they sell in one package when working on a GM from caliper. Should run around $10-15. I bought mine at pepboys if you have one around you. Good Luck.

When I did mine I had to clean out the head and it was still a tight fit for the 3/8 allen wrench. But it worked.

My 93 GA was an Allen head too, can't remember the size but 3/8" sounds about right. Slid in the bolt head without any problems.
