My heater does not blow out real well and if I turn it on the highest setting "being 4", then it turns off instead of going on high. Why is this? Also, is there a way to make the heat come out hotter. I know it has antifreeze in it.
Thank you.
Thank you.

I don't know why your fan goes off on 4, but all you need to do is disconnect the heater hoses at the engine and back flush the heater core. Run your heater on high and feel the hoses going into the firewall. The coolest hose you want to back flush with a garden hose. If your engine temperature is normal I say this will solve your problem. Dave

If you have a 93 or so escort, I have the same car, and my wires worked loose and 4 wouldnt work on my heater, try wiggling the wires (passenger side near the foot area) untill it works...my heater is pretty weak too...

samething happened to my 92 gt. just under the blower located on the passenger side is a resistor with 5 wires, but only 2 plugs. Check the plastic clip that holds 4 of the wires together. the plug may have melted . If so I'd go to your local ford dealer and buy a new resistor soon eventualy it will burn out. ford does not make a new wire harness for that. i just used a bunch of quick connects. all the wires are a different gauge so check them out before you head to Radio Shack.
