sudden loss of power

I was driving along hearing a buzzing sound that did not hurt the power of my turbo at first but then it sounded like something snapped and I lost most of the power and was barely able to drive the car home. Thought it was the timing belt. But no It was perfectly aligned and only the little balance belt was a little loose. Did a compression test and all cylinders have the same compression over 150 lbs. Checked the turbo and it spun freely and appeared just fine. Once I turned the car off I was never able to get it started again. Should I pull the pan and look for lower end problems. What could have made the buzzing noise and what sounded like it snapped. ????

Well you got compression, now its time to check for fuel and spark... Those 3 are the key ingrediant to a running motor! Check for fuel and spark and let us know what you find.

I smell gass after I start it and I get spark on all cylinders when I test each plug wire separately

I've got good spark on all cylinders and I smell gas after trying to start it.
This car has over 300,000 miles on it. What else goes bad?
I took the alternator belt and power stearing belt off and timeing cover off then i put the motor mount back on and stated the car. It started again but although the timing belt is not rubbing it is still making a buzzing noise that gets more like a whirling noise as I give it gass. All the accesories are disconnected. what is that buzzing whirling noise???

Good question... Dont run your car without your water pump or you are going to toast your motor!


I'm starting to think you need a rebuild if your car has 300,000 miles! :eek7: That is just insane if it is the stock motor. Some sort of world record. You should do a compression test (go to autozone and sign up for the loan-a-tool program if you dont have a compression tester) and check your compression then post it up here what each cylinder is.

Have you checked all the intercooler hoses to see if anything has blown off or come loose?

you're full of shit if you have a mustang with 500k on the stock motor. the world record for a motor is like 300 something on some old volvo in england. unless you're talking about KM instead of Miles
