Clutch questions

I have a 96 F250 psd 4x4. The clutch pedal is very stiff to push and when I put the truck in gear and release the clutch it's like if you were to just dump the clutch. I have had other friends drive it and it does the same thing. It also feels like the pedal is kind of pushing back at my foot when I let it up. I read a repair manual and it said there is no adjustment, it dosent make any noise, like the throw out bearing and it dosent slip either. I have had manual trans. all my life and never had this problem. I bought the truck used with 150000 on it and the clutch action has been like this since I got it. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

Is it hydraulic? If it is its probably a bad slave cylinder.

Yes it is a hydrolic clutch. I was wondering about the slave cylinder but did'nt want to just start throwing money at it until I had some other input. Thanks very much.

Is it hydraulic? If it is its probably a bad slave cylinder.
That would be my first guess also.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a shot. I can get a new one for about $60.00 which is a heck of alot less than a new clutch at over $600.00.
