Hey guys, i didnt know quite where to put this exactly so i thought it would go here where it would get alot of response..anyway, im lookin to buy a new car soon..something sporty and fast that i could mod myself, i think iv narrowed it down between 2 cars, a RSX Type-S or a WRX. There both in my price range, used. Whats your opinion? Any other suggestions..? I know WRX are quick in the quarter mile but iv heard some things about top end power loss at high speeds? Is it overrated?

Depends whether you prefer front wheel drive or all wheel drive. In the dry, the WRX will understeer more than the RSX, in the wet, just the opposite. What's the climate where you live? Both hold their value quite well. RSX seems to be of better quality, at least in the interior. RSX also seems more comfortable, but the WRX is a bit quicker. Do you use your car's speed very often, or would you rather have a bit more comfort?

Speed, i've been in a WRX and they dont seem very uncomfortable..but the RSX has leather which is nice. Either way im looking for performance mainly. We get bad winters here, but then there is summer and spring.

IMO it depends on what appeals to you more...
RSX = excellent ride quality and comfort, holds it's resale value extremely well, and Type S is a pretty good performer...and leather, mmm.
WRX = cheap plastic feeling interior, stiff rattling ride quality, but it will out perform an RSX from a dig and around corners. I don't know how well it would do from a roll, because I've heard the same thing about top-end power (that the AWD cannibalizes power from the engine). Soobies don't hold re-sale value as well as Acuras.

Integra - cheaper to insure, cheaper to run, 2 door coupe style, Honda build quality, fit and finish, good options list.
WRX - goes like a shower of shit, grips like a cat on carpet, everyone knows what you're packing, more expensive in the long run, fit and finish aren't quite as top notch, equally excellent options/features.
If it ended up being less than $2000 difference all things considered (purchase price, on roads, insurance, options etc) between the two, I would take the WRX any day.

I would personally take the RSX, since I don't street race nor drive like a hooligan, thus I don't need the extra speed, and would rather the extra quality and comfort. :)

A Honda Integra/Acura RSX Type S would get my vote any day.
It's more comfortable, built like a Honda (With an upscale feel to it), better equipped, I would say it has more whp (WRX drivetrains are known for sucking up power and the flywheel Kw for the WRX is only a few Kw more), slightly easier to insure. Oh and it's not hideous like a WRX.
Can't really go wrong with either one for handling. But the RSX makes more sense to me unless you REALLY need 4 doors or AWD (Which you don't, given that you are even considering the RSX).
Oh and wouldn't this be better off in car comparisons?

After you throw out the advantage the WRX has from a stop because of AWD, it really isn't that much faster. The new type-S is 210 hp, which is certainly no slouch. The RSX looks better, is built MUCH MUCH better, and will have better resale. Like most other people said, unless you're going to race it on a regular basis and need 4 doors, there's no reason to get the WRX over the RSX.

It certainly would.
Completely off-topic, funnily enough, is for off-topic posts. This belongs in car comps. It'll last longer there too :)

Well Wrx if you want pure performence. But the type-S the inside is very comferable.Rsx also has the power there when you feel like just going. My vote Rsx type-S..

both are fantastic cars. but i prefer the WRX. im not quite sure why. it has a face only a mother could love, but it's quaint and i like that. and something about all wheel drive. gotta love it. high end may suffer, but low end grunt is what you get the car for.
cant fault RSX build quality though. ive got 15 year old prelude, and the thing has yet to fall apart. and i drive it like a beast. it speaks volumes for honda's ability to build a stout car. FWD kinda sucks in bad weather, something to consider if you have rough winters.
id flip a coin, call head or tails, and not look back.

Yeah hondas are pro on staying built..but im not too worried about it lasting me forever..i just want something that will fit my needs better. I love the AWD launch and just all around feel from a sit still and just driving. Im gonna test drive both and let you guys know.

seems like you really want the wrx and just looking to justify your choice. go with the test drive. here's my take, first impressions will be stronger after driving the wrx than with the rsx if speed is your thing. my suggestion, test drive the rsx first just coz of that. coz performance-wise, the rsx will be a disappointment after test driving a wrx. the rsx would prove to be a better car for the long run though. hondas are just that easy to live with day to day and so forth. the rsx has grown on me. i actually like them now.
but looks like you've made your decision. go with the wrx, it's a fun little car, the turbo adds that much more flexibility and potential for more power. :D

I'd go with the WRX. A couple of things, though: unlike most people, I find the WRX to be a very cool-looking car, and I much prefer its styling to the RSX's. And second of all, I recognize that Subaru's reliability and build quality is every bit as good as Honda's.

To whoever said fwd is bad in snow hasn't been in a rwd...Anyways, I would take the wrx. I like turbos, I like the was awd launches, and I like having an awd. The rsx is stilla good car, IMO not as good as teh wrx
