My 97 5.0 does pretty well and I had been used to driving
a Toyota for the last 9 years. I haven't estimated yet but I
haven't been surprised by anything. My gas lasts long with
"normal" driving but when I'm pushing it hard I can watch
the gas guage drop like there was a hole in the tank. It's
fun when I can afford it. I have no intake mods., just dual
cat-back.

My '98 with 305 and 460LE trans gets a consistent 17-18 mpg.

You guys are doing pretty well. I've got a 96 GMC K1500, 350, 4L60, 4.10 gears and 285-75R16 BFG ATs and get a consistent 15-16 mpg. That's up from 12-13 due to electric fans, dual exhaust, K&N air filter. So with a 305 engine, you still have to take into consideration the rest of the truck setup before you can guess how it's going to do in fuel economy.
