Starting problem

Im having a problem starting my 92 accord when its really cold out. The past few days its been hovering around zero when i go to start it, and its giving me hell! i have to turn the key 3-4 times before the engine starts. It seems like it wants to, but the first few times itll crank a bit, then shudder and stop. Im wondering, since the starter sounds slower when its cold, could it be that? Or is it something with the fuel? Plugs are relatively new, wires are in good shape, and the car runs absolutely fine once its running and warm. any help would be great.

i had a problem like this before till one day it just wouldnt start. turned out it was my ignition coil.

chekc your spark and see if its weak or strong

that sucks...thanks for the info. By the way, were there any problems when it was warm? i have trouble sometimes when its warm out it takes usually two times, but its a strong crank (i think this is related to the fuel filter that hasnt been changed in years).

could be just some electrical problem on your sensors like ECT, IAT, etc..check the wiring connections.

well, your starter turning your engine over slower in the cold is due to you battery not having enough "cold cranking amps", this is fixed by buying a new battery with more CCA's then you currently have, you should find this printed on the a sticker that should be on your battery. as far as the car sputtering and stalling when its cold..... crap, i forget the name of the sensor.... but its the sensor that revs your motor a bit to warm it up quicker and when it gets warm it kicks the engine back to normal idle RPM...

well i just bought a new battery...i thought i bought a good one but then again i really just looked at price. Anyway, that sensor info is good to know but it doesnt have a problem like that becuase once it starts up it revs up to around 22-2500 for a while, so that works. Ill check the CCA on my battery. Anyone have any recommendations on how many CCA's i should have when its 0 degrees? thanks

the more the merrier... just ask for the battery with the most CCA's that fit in your car.

maybe ill just put a hand warmer on my battery before i start my car???? j/k

lol or many.... they actually do make a battery blanket for just this problem....lol, its supposed to hold the heat in better.
