Keyless entry problem

I just purchased genuine Honda CRV keyless entry transmitters from http://www.handa-accessories.com for my 2001 Honda CR-V LX. I have programmed them, but they only work after pressing the open/lock buttons several times at close range. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Thanks for the suggestion. I replaced the battery on the transmitter and this did not help. The previous owner had an aftermarket in dash CD player installed. (Pioneer Super Tuner III) Does anyone know if the receiver for the keyless entry is wired close to the stereo location? Thanks.

The dome light works correctly. I have it set to the middle position so it turns on when the doors are open. Thanks.

I ordered the key ring transmitters from http://www.handa-accessories.com and programmed them using the provided instructions. They work, but I have to be standing at the door and press the button several times. Thanks.
