How far does a can of Tamiya TS spray go?

How far does a can of TS Spray go? I have now sprayed my Modena with -
2 x mist coats
2 x wet coats
This includes the rear hood, so the entire body is now looking good, but the can feels almost empty..
I didn't get that much spray in the booth, OK some of the paint did go into the booth, but I can't help that and I did waste a shot with each coat spraying the booth side to clear out the noozle to ensure it was clean paint going into the model, but I can't tell if I have enough for another model.
Hmm.. If I run out of the colour can I just start a new can and will the colour match? I would like to use the same colour on another model.

one of my TS 8 cans lasted for 1.5 models  ... 1 Revell Ferrari 360 (2 mist coats, 2 wet coats) and some parts of my Tamiya Enzo Rosso Corsa (don't remember how many coats...)

I try to get 1 model at least. Sometimes I can get 2.

sure it will. But if you take more than a spraycan for a kit, you put too much paint. Many of us make 2 kit with one spraycan

I allow one can of color and one can of clear for a model. This allows room for polishing without burn thru.
Paint is cheap so don't try to spread yourself too thin.

The can is 100ml and the paint was going on thin with the first 2 mist coats. Even after the third coat (Wet) you could still see through. The last coat worked a treat, but it didn't go very far..!!
I think it has at best 1 and a half coats left..!! Not a lot really, and it's not that cheap.. £3.50 odd a can, makes it costly if you make a mistake..
I read that some of you apply up to three wet coats, but my model is fine as it is. The panel lines look wonderful after the last coat. Happy with the result, not happy with only getting 1 perhaps 1 and a half models out of a can..!!
But sounds like I can use the rest of it on another car, and then buy another can the same colour.. Cool..!!

About 75-80 feet with a full can, but the cap broke when it hit the ground...
Seriously, it depends on the color. The Brilliant Blue for example, covers very well, can get two cars without a problem out of one can, same with the Light Metallic Blue. But some of the other colors like Yellow may take a can and a half to get the desired result on just one body. Primer also helps save paint, if you choose the right color of primer for the paint.
If you airbrush it it goes a lot further too.
Just buy one more can than you think you'll need to be safe. - Mark

I'm with Marc here. When I buy paint and clear (if needed) it is intended for one model. If I have any left over I'll save it for misc. parts or small panels.

it all depend of the color too. If you take yellow, it's preaty transparent and will need about 5 mist coat + 1 wet of paint to look good. But if you take Silver, this paint cover as good as primer, so 2 mist + 1 wet is enough.

Hi, any of you in the UK, could try using Halfords Filler Primer for yellow, as it is a yellow colour, I find that you get a cool Ferrari red from this and Volkswagen Mars Red I. Also for reds, try using Halfords Red Primer.
Hope this helps, it makes mine last a little longer. I didn't think of this when doing the Tamiya Enzo Giallo Modena, so I used two whole cans.

This is helpful stuff: I've got over a dozen cars that need to be painted white in my 'to do' pile (Why are so many rally cars white?). Most rally cars call for the chassis, rollcage, and drivetrain to be painted the same color, and at $5 a can, Tamiya stuff will get pricey quickly.
Does the Kyrlon stuff turn yellow over time?
Would decanting and airbrushing the paint make it last longer?

I would stick with Tamiya for the body, and use other brand for chasis, rollcage etc.. (interior will look better in flat white too)

Well,
Appears it's a one can job for "most" colours using Tamiya TS Spray. Being a first time user of Tamiya spray I expected them to go a little further then one car.
Still my car looks very glossy so it's not all bad. I can see my face in the hood..

You should be able to paint 2 models if it all goes well for you

Like some of the others, I usually try to 1 can per model. I like to have it thick enough so that I don`t have to worry about rubbing through while finishing. I tend to spend alot of time with the polishing compound though....
Pman,
I was expecting you to say that you can spray 3 full size ambulances and still have half a can left! :D :D :D I don`t see how you do it.

If you use an automotive clear, you may be able to get more out of that can. Auto clear is very, very strong and rubbing compound simply will not burn through it. When I polish, I usually get no color on the cloth I'm using, so it should do you some good.
