Hi everyone,
Im new here and saw some very wonderfull building going on in this forum so i wanted to join in. This is my next project. Its 69 Camaro Pro Street. I posted some pictures allready in the camaro Z/28 Thread. I dont want to take space up there so i decided to post my own Thread here. This is going to take a while but i will be posting progress pictures as i go along. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v236/Ralphlovs1969cars/built5005.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v236/Ralphlovs1969cars/built6001.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v236/Ralphlovs1969cars/built6002.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v236/Ralphlovs1969cars/built4005.jpg

I would really like to see more Pro Streets done in this scale so im going to share this secret with everyone.I already told Hawk about it so here it goes. These tires and wheels were found[your going to laugh]on the "MUSCLE MACHINES" 1/18 scale cars. Not the newer smaller ones. What i did with the back tire from the Machine was i cut out the sidewall [small line you will see it] and i got the 1/12 Kit slick and cut the side wall from it and inserted it into the muscle machine "TUBB" and got the front wheel from the Machine also to fit the back.[Its 1/12 in scale wich makes a nice deep wheel.
The front wheel is also from the "Machine" but i cut it in half but i got as close to the center as possible.[less sanding needed later].the outer lip is from the wheels that come with the Camaro. Cut in half and glued to the Machine wheel.Thats how i got a " Skinnie". The tires are from the Camaro[Good Year Eagle]. I cut out the Center 3 Treads[very carefully] and glued the outer halfs together. http://photobucket.com/albums/v236/Ralphlovs1969cars/th_built3025.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/v236/Ralphlovs1969cars/th_built3024.jpg

Here are the door jams being made out of sheet styren. I try and make the door jams as close to real as possible and then i use putty to fill the gaps. You have to plan out the door jams because they have to work with the Door. I also added pictures of the Back half. I used the Camaro rails and sheet stiren to make it. The putty will be removed, i thought i can use it to even the back out but decided a sheet of stiren will work better. If you build a pro street like this try and do the tires and wheels first, then narrow the rear end and add the leaf springs, then at the end glue the frame rails to the back, this way everything lines up.

Hey Stump thanks for the Comments and im glad that you are following along. I posted a wheel and tire that i mest up a while back but now its fixed so you can see were the line is at and see were the slick is. Also i posted a picture of my last project but after a while i noticed that the hood is a bit to "Tall" so i made a new one. I just started to learn how to work with resin and started casting my own parts and copying them, so yes i do have more hoods but they need cleaning up but are good overall. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v236/Ralphlovs1969cars/built4002.jpg

Put the one you like but I must agree with 99civichic this one really looks way to big, like someone parked a piano on top of the hood. Everything else look more then good. I specialy like the wheels.

I was allways going to put the smaller outlaw hood that i cast in resin but i put up the picture of the last project i did saying that the hood was built way to big and i noticed it also. That hood will not be on this car. I ordered a porsche 935 and im waiting to receive it so i can cast the turbo from it and make 2 but it has not arrived yet. I also slowed down due to that because i can not plan ahead without see it. Also i wanted to let you know that if you buy the 1/24 Muscle Machine the back wheels also fit the 1/12 scale cars. What they did was get the Front wheels from the 1/18 Car and just added it to the 1/24 car. Its also cheaper to buy than the 1/18 Car.Door Jams are allmost done. will post better pictures later.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v236/Ralphlovs1969cars/built9004.jpg

I know what you mean about doorjams. I'm doing a suicide jam on a 1/24 '65 Impala. Man! It's hard than most think. I wish you well in your build.

you need an intercooler if you are going for realism. As we all know heat up the intake, and when you mash the gas you have no throttle response, plus I bet you could make a kick ass FMIC

Sorry for not posting anything new lately. I have been progressing with this Car and i havent abanded it. I been very excited and have scratched built some valve covers and now they are cast in resin. I have been working with the trunk lid and im almost done with it. As you can see i have been working inside the trunk seeing how i can build a fuel cell. I had to make the headers from solder and bend them so i can make the connection to the turbine inlet on the turbo. I used the collector from the Camaro kit to finish the headres but did not realize that i put the headres to far up and hit the upper A arms and dont let the big block sit.So now i have to start over again. Anyways here are some pictures:

Thanks guys. I casted them both out of resin. I copied them from the Tamiya Porsche 934 RSR. And yes i do have the Mold so i can make more in 1/12. If you want some done in 1/24 heres a web site that sells some.

The camaro kit in 1/12 is made from Revell/ Monogram. If you wait till Septemebr of this year you can get one. That is when they will rerelease this kit.

I just wanted to let you all know [who are following along] that im in the process of moving and that i will continue with the progress on my Car as soon as i settle down in my new home. This car is by noway going to be on the back burner. I cant wait to finish it. Im having a little trouble with the tubing for the turbos. The aluminum tubing keeps on quinking and/or braking when i bend it.What i want to try is using brake lines from a 1:1 Car. They are a little thicker and i dont think they will be to much trouble to bend. I will keep you posted.

I know it has been a while and some of you probably wondered what has happend in the last couple of months. Well i moved to a new house. Since i did not have the tubbing i needed the project sat. I decided to make a chassis from brass but i did not know how to solder. I practiced on a 1/24-1/25 scale model camaro and Impala role cage and i got good results. So off i went to start on the 1/12 Chassis. When i opened the bax the project came in the body was cracked so i had to start on a new 1. heres the progress so far but maybe the turbos wont be used until i see how i can work the turbos in with the brass chassis. Keep in mind im not going to make the hole chassis from brass. It will be a mix of plastic and brass. Take a look and leave comments, Enjoy !

Wow!!
Looks trick, Ralph!!
Yes, I have used the salt-in-tubing trick and it works very well... When soldering tubing I use a small propane torch, pure silver solder, and acid flux. I first make sure the joint is making perfect contact, surround the joint to be soldered with insulating clay, flux the joint area, slice a small (very small) piece of solder off the roll and lay it on the joint, then hit it with the torch. In about 3-5 seconds it melts and instantly joins the parts with very little excess left to remove.
I learned this technique from Augie Hiscano, the metal master!!!

That is how i been doing it. I was using a soldering gun but that took too long and it heated up all the brass. This is quiker and it only heats up one area. When i do it i, i do it just like you said but i heat up that area first and then i add the solder.
May Augie Hiscano rest in peace.......
Nice to hear from you again! When are you going to start that project Russell?

I didn't even know he had passed! That's how out of touch I am with modelling lately. I'll never forget meeting him in 2000, how he'd let me hold some of his creations without hesitation for a closer look, and how he actually worked with me on the 2nd ZL1 Camaro in the motel meeting room when I met him at the B'ham NNL.
Nice to hear from you again! When are you going to start that project Russell?
After I finish installing the ZZ4 and the new Baer brakes on the real Camaro I'll get back to the "Ultimate Camaro" and do some more metal detailing as a tribute to Augie!

Actually the turbos are being a little difficult to install in this car as there is No room in the engine compartment. Im trying diffrent mock ups as we speak.Trying to route the intake tubbing and exhaust tubbing is going to be a job in itself. The problem rigth now is that the upper control arms get in the way along with the Master cylinder. I been looking for pictures with twin turbos in this same car but they all have small blocks in them and not big blocks like mines. I might just go with a blower or a tunnel ram. Im still pondering about that.....
