Well the first and foremost is I have a popping noise that sounds like its coming out of the rear end I know Ive read prev threads on it but any quick fixes no lights or nothing coming on will the lubricant in around the strut mount clear up the noise, also rear defroster not working any ideas on cost to replace or repair??

I'm not familiar with the popping noise coming from the rear, but lubricating the front strut tower helped eliminate the squeaking noise from my Alero front end.
When is the noise occurring - all the time, just when you turn, when you go over bumps??
As for the window defroster, there are a couple likely possibilities - a fuse, the defroster relay, or the switch are the most likely if the defroster isn't working at all. If some of the elements work, but it's leaving lines of frost in certain areas, then some of the elements have probably been damaged. Autozone sells a repair kit for them for about $15.

The rear defroster issue is common on Alero's, GA's, and Malibu's. The plug at the window usually melts inside. I have heard that these can be replaced but I have also read that the entire rear window needs to be replaced with a new defroster.
