i must say wow. my daughter is 7 yrs old, 1st grade. she came home and told us "dad i'm sorry but smoking is bad it's drugs. mom i'm glad you don't drink too much coffee, caffine is drugs too" i'm like :eek7: where did you hear that? she tells us school. sure as can be, i look in her bag and find a work sheet. other things listed as drugs are:
-pic of a medicine bottle with the word "ANTIBIOTIC" and "Rx" on the label
-pic of Asprin bottle
-cigarettes
-cough syrup
-vitamins
-beer

listed not as drugs:
-hamburger
-water

Nooo Vitamins. Make sure that if any kids at school have them that she knows how to say NO. They are bad bad bad. hahah That funny tho...seems like all those listed have a negative connotation. I guess vitamin abuse is a problem...

You should ask her; since caffeine is a drug and there is caffeine in chocolate, is chocolate a drug.

Shes in 1st freakin grade, they dont need to tell them that cigarettes and vitamins and perscriptions are drugs. One of them will wind up going to their teacher and telling them that their parents drink every morning before taking them to school (coffee) after taking a bunch of pills (vitamins/asprin/perscription) and goes on the back porch and smokes something. And even worse when the kid is sick shes gonna think your forcing her to take drugs when you give her medicine. I can see it now, police raid house, man charged with multiple counts of posession of caffine, vitamins, and cigarettes.

They need to wait until kids are older and not quite so impressionable as they are when they are that young. They will take anything you tell them to heart and not know the different degrees of drugs.

Damn, after i finish this beer im gonna go smoke a doobie, then have a cigarette, have a couple cubes, pop a bean, and have a couple bumps of blow. All because of a damn hamburger, i still think hamburger should be listed as a drug.

It's kind of funny. A mother asking her daughter, is it OK to have this, is this bad for you, etc.

wow, thats crazy that there teaching her that already, i guess they wanna try to make kids stop smoking at an early age lol, but if its prescription or something that helps u like vitamins or whatever they should tell the kids that those are the "ok" drugs, just stay away from the bad ones.

when i was that age they would tell us taking it without parent supervision could lead to taking to much which = poision

there is a huge difference between illegal controlled substances which are drugs and medication, vitamins, cough syrup which also fall under the catagory of drugs.

kids are allowed to bring cough drops to school. after being told medication, vitamins, and cough syrup are drugs....what is the child supposed to think of the cough drops in their backpack????

exactly, like they should tell the kids whats good or not, becuase if they dont kids will be scared to take anything that will make them better because they think its "bad" or "wrong"

I think teaching a kid that cigarettes are bad early on is good. if u want to to label them as "drugs" to do so to make it a point, fine. but labeling vitamins and caffeine as drugs without explanation is ridiculous. then everytime you give your child a flinstone's vitamin they are going to freak.

flinstone's vitamins rock. i could totally overdose on those anyway. and as far as coffee goes, it's not only a drug, it's a way of life. especially when u get up at 3 in the morning to go to work...

maybe u could recommend to the teacher, to elaborate next time? :-P

funny you should use flinstone's as your example because according to the daughter flinstone's is the same example the teacher used....

i'm reporting your flinstone's abuse to the teacher :evillol:

When I was a kid I ate an entire box of those Ricola gum drop like things, let me just say that's not a good idea at all. I almost finished the box when I read the warning on the side that said not to take too many. I won't get into details, but I'll say it didn't involve me having to go to the doctor luckily.
