once again.. i have another question.. lol..

well.. gotta replace my stock stereo deck, and.. i dont know how to get it out :confused: .. i heard u need special keys to remove the stock stereo.. is that true?.. is there any way i can get the stereo out without buying those keys?.. also.. i bought a new pioneer deck.. and.. just wondering if theres anything else i need to install it besides what it came with (wiring harness, trim plate, mounting sleeve, and some install hardware) thanx guys..

Yes you need special keys to remove the radio. If a vw dealer is nice enough maybe they might let you borrow there keys. I do believe that crutchfield sells the keys on there website.

i see..

and i also heard you needed a custom wiring harness and an antenna adaptor to attach a aftermarket deck in a jetta.. is that true?

If the dashboard who contains the radio is removed then the radio can be removed with this dashboard. The two plastic grids needs to be removed(from the ventilation system), also the plastics from the left and right of the radio.There are 4 screws to be removed, then the whole dashboard can come up.

Yes, you will need an antenna adaptor and the wire harness. You will also need the keys, but most dealerships will walk out to your car and pull the radio out using the keys for you... it takes seconds to do. Also, when you install the wire harness it takes up a bunch of space and the only place to stuff the wires is under the stereo, behind the heater controls. Just be careful you don't "stuff" too roughly and tape all the wires in the harness very securely. It’s not hard, just being meticulous.
