Kit is resin one with PE in 1/24 from Czech company Reji, this one will have a lot of schratch build stuff because it has rather small number of parts, no engine or chasis details so all that is left is interior and body. General fittment is good but it need a lot of cleaning and test fitting (what is normal for resin). Parts are washed and cleaned. Body is primed with Tamyia primer (spray) and will be painted with automotive colours (dupli color to be specific). Since car has 4 colour scheme and no decals for that purpose it will be a nightmare for masking and painting.

Still have to clean the body a bit before first coats of colour.
Interior was painted two times and it didn't came out good so this will be third try. Schratch builded those foot bells and they will receive full CF treatment. Hope you like it.

Cool project of a nice little rally car. The first Skoda on AF modelforum?
I will follow your thread with great interest.
Good luck with painting the body, it will be a challenge :)

I think the body looks really good Sasa, have you detailed it yourself or is it original? Seems like a cool project and I'm looking forward to follow that paint job.

Body is like it came, I have just rescribed all of the panel lines because they were shalow and reworked front hood intakes, nothing major just a lot of cleaning.

Yummy, body looks very crisp. I have been considering one of these Reji kits for a while so I will be watching this thread with interest.
Is there a good place to buy Reji complete kits online for the US?

Hi Sasa,
yesterday I thought about starting this kit (I have mine since 4 weeks). But then I saw that I have to strengthen the window trim (it is not well done) and set it aside.
Now I will see your progress before I start with my kit.
What colours do you use for green and black?
Micha

Woww, a Fabia. I didn't even know there was a Fabia ever produced. Octavia , yes, but Fabia  but, I admit, I'm not too much into motorsports
Interesting project, I'll follow it carefully.

Where do you guys buy these resin kits? I have seen them a few places, but $100+ is just too much to pay for a single kit. Are they available for like, 2/3 that anywhere?

Thank you guys ;)
Micha the trim is not bad at all if you take a look at the real car there isn't any trim exept on the bottom of the side windows. Other trims are very thin on the real thing so painting windows will do the trick, just few hints roll cage needs a lot of work because it has just half pipes that are needed, be carefull at those front intakes on the hood, i have shaved one because it looked like resin garbage but in fact it wasn't, so I had to do it again with putty, other things you will see in this progress, I will point out things that should be taken care of.
Thank you all once again for support.
Edit: Oh and Micha I will give you the codes of Dupli color sprays I bought for this one on Friday

Work on interior is on the way, CF (SMS) is where it should be, I have put scaleracecars switches on the dash board and Kevlar on the seats, also SMS, followed by clear black because the Kevlar looked a bit to yellow. Still a lot of work.

Body is painted in white. So three light coats of Tamiya white primer, little bit of sanding, two light coats of Dupli color white then 48 hours of drieing (this white realy dries for long time it is fresh even affter 24 hours :screwy: ), then one more light coat and finnaly one wet coat. It is still not perfect but now I have to put red, green and grey, then clearcoat and than some rubbing and if nececary sanding. Doesn't look that bad at all, slight orange peal but that is because there isn't to much paint (I had problem with this paint on chasis when I applied it to heavily).

I thought about doing complete suspension but then again I also decided to fix the model on the alu plate so it would be just more work for no one to see and I decided not to do any changes on under tray and engine. I will focus on interior only since this is my first resin kit and I would rather exeriment with plastic, but it would be nice to have complete kit with all the details for sure.
And now for some bad news, I fu..ked the paint job. Mistake was in paint. All of the products are from Dupli color (exept Tamiya primer). White and red are synthetic base and green is acrylic. Don't do this because you will be sorry like I am.
Body was left in Mr. Muscolo (Johnnsons) owen cleaner and it stripped paint really good and I will have to start over with acrylic ONLY.

Did some more on the interior. I have added few of Scaleracecars bolt and washers (lost only one :grinyes: ) driled pedals, gear shift lever and hand brake housing. Still need to make brake cylinder for hand brake and add a lot of wires.

Ahhh, I also had the same problem with the paint. I applied Tamiya primer then put some Dupli Color over it and when i clear coated it a bunch of marks came out of no where! I'm never mixing brands again, worse thing was that i did it with two cars at the same time and had to strip both! I did get to recover them and they are actually the two cars that are in my signature:lol: Well you always learn something new!
The Fabia is awesome man! My cousin owns one of these cool chipmunks in my country. Very cool car. Defenitely interested in this thread.

I hate to think its to late to tell you this but... if the red and white are lacquer paints and the green was acryllic then you should just be able to strip the green with rubbing alcohol and not effect the lacquer?!?

I thought about that also but I picked up custom colours for green and grey so I must strip everything and start over with acrylics.

Just remember...IPA will eat Tamiya's spray lacquers! When trying to remove acrylic paints, try using an ammonia based cleaner (such as windex in America).
hth,
Bill
p.s. This is why Micro-Sol will etch patterns into Tamiya spray lacquers!!!!

Hi sjelic,
nice progress so far. Body and decals came out very well now.
I think building the roll cage will be some hard and time consuming work, I looked at these parts in the kit, lots of sanding and test-fitting.
BTW: next weekend Ekström starts at the Sweden Rallye in this car, however in Red-Bull design.
I ´m thinking about building that design..........

I didn't have much time lately so I worked just a bit on Fabia. I must say that roll cage is giveing me some hard time to fit and scratch build all of the missing stuff. Meanwhile I managed to put final clear coat and rub the body with Tamiya rubbing compound, wheels with discs are almost done and I put some of PE parts on front. The mask was very difficult to band to shape without damageing vertical beams, the thing that was missing is that round plate for Skoda logo, it is light len from 1/43 kit :D. Body was just put on chasis and wheels were put just to see how does it look (on the picture it looks bad because it is not fitted good , but it will fit with some CA glue :D). Sorry for that bad picture it was with flash, from distance and it is....very bad in one word.

Just watch out because there are many different shapes and few dimensions so take care.

Great work on the rollcage and fuel line (?). That is a very busy rollcage design Skoda are using. Does Reji provide the ratchet fastener on the spare wheel tiedown straps as PE or did you scratchbuild it?

Yes, fuel line ??? (it looks strange to me to), I am not sure about that part that comes out from blue fillter downwards because it could maybe be that this part goes in the fuel tank, but I could,'t find the right photo so i did it like this.
Reji realy did provided that tiedown on the PE parts (and it was not listed as part to use :D but some triangle that is not correct according to references)

Interior almost done (battery box, seat belts to roll cage and some roll cage wireing are missing). Work on body continues while wheels received final light gray wash.

Nice. I do want that kit, but they are SOOOO expensive in the US.
I wonder if there is a Tamiya or Hasegawa kit you would have used for the chassis and suspension.

Looks grat so far! Thanks for overcoming the setback and sharing the fruits of your labor with us. This thing is looking awesome. Hard to beleive the multi color body is paint, and not decal.

Looking at the first pic, and then the last I cannot believe this is what you now have. What a stunning bit of work. I too can't even think how you got that body to look so crisp and clean.
Well done.
