physical difference between a ram air non functional and functional hood?

what makes a ram air non- functional hood non functional and what makes a functional hood functional

Well hopefully your kidding about this one. But if not, then here. On a functional ram air setup, you would have
1) Some sort of hood scoop

and 2) An air filter and box located under it.

On a nonfunctional setup, you would have
1) Some sort of hood scoop
and 2) No air filter and box located under it. It would look somewhat like how my intake is setup.

So there, hopefully that helped ya out somewhat. And those pics of the firebird above are silver87ta's. I just found his to be a good example to use.

Air box. Ram air T/A's have an inch or two higher opening. Non-ram air f bods have an opening of about one inch.

Honestly, there isn't much difference it's for looks. I would be surprised if I got 5hp extra from the ram air.
