I have a '77 with a 100 mph speedometer, i've had the needle come back around to about 5, i dont even know if the speedometer is still accurate at the speed, but if it is that should be somewhere around 150 or more.
If anyone knows how fast that really is please let me know.

I don't want to offened anybody, but for the record. I never said in a quarter mile. my car takes a minute to get goin'. With a custom geared richmond 6-speed tranny and 2.42 rear gear with a 30 inch diameter tire all pushed by 502 flywheel horses it goes. By the way there are a number of radar systems out there that are capable of reading up to 999 mph. such as the KUSTOM HR-12, KUSTOM Pro-1000DS, DECATUR GENISIS 1, and not to mention the entire line of MPH Radar systems. And as for drivin' around town i only do that once maybe twice a year, she lives on a trailer most of the year.

November, 1979. '77 T/A, 403 with some "enhancements", 2.42 gears, TH350, 2.55/60-15 Radial T/As, 6,400 RPM. Works out to around 180 MPH. We were on I-15 going to Vegas. A Ferrari (like Magnum's) wanted to play. Ferrari driver backed out first!

the stock gearing on an m6 lt1-ls1 will get you to 255. you just need the power to get there. i think you need a little over 800 whp with stock aero's
164= factory top speed of lt1 in 5th gear (road and track)
160= top speed of ls1 in 5th (speed limiter)(friends car)

I didn't hit 180, probably 150-160 at most over the course of the trip; this was later on, on the I-40.
I also played with a bunch of cars, only two that went the distance were a '96 BMW M3 and a 2000 Firebird T/A. Countless amounts of Mustangs and Grand Prixs.
"Enhancements" were no form of emmisions equipment and an exaust unattached after the headers.

LT1 guys...156ish is your stock limiter
LS1 guys is 163mph.
I know...I used HPTuners to remove mine. 300 mph :grinno:
But seriously, in NV, I had my car going well over 160. When the scanner and speedo said 160 for a few seconds after I let off the gas and then started coming back down...we knew we were haulin'....of course the 750 bike didn't like it when he thought he would walk me and didn't.

Well I've heard those numbers before they sound believable
But what about Mr. 230 mph on page 1? He says he can go almost twice as fast as you.
I would love to see the super-duper tires he has on this car to withstand those speeds.

230mph eh? I hope that bird has landing gear because when it starts flying in the air you're going to have to come down sometime. I'm not saying it's impossible..but that would be some kind of record. Not to mention if you get pulled over going 230mph..they're not going to let you go. Not to mention they'd 'catch you' like 5 miles down the road. Because they'd be at a stop..and you'd be going 230mph past them. And that's just if you decided to stop. You could easily keep going and they'd never catch you. I'm reaching for my BS flag...

93-95 cars with non z rated tires and an older PCM calibration were limited to 108 MPH and received a 110 speedo.
94 and 95 cars had a newer calibration from GM which raised the limit to 118 MPH.
93-95 Z-rated cars all had the speed limiter set to 255 MPH.
96-02 F cars with non z-rated tires all had 118 MPH speed limiters.

NO way that GM allowed the zrated tired cars in 93-95 a 255mph speed limiter.

Or was it some kind of rear end gear swapping? 0-60 in 3 mins?
Or maybe its because you haven't realized yet that there is actually an Lt1 in that camaro.
I'm not trying to blast you but I've been behind the wheel of the 3.4 and 3.8, and in the highest gear they are struggling past 110.

I've been told by a person or 2 with 95s (OBD1) and they said when they looked at the limit in the PCM it was set to 255, which is the highest value you can set it to because the PCM uses 8-bits to hold the data which gives it a range of 0 - 255.
