you don't have to pull the axel... pull the bracket for the alt. off and there should be plently of room

ya just take the alternator off the brakcet but keep it near, then unbolt the braket and take both out. there is plenty of room in 4th gens. In accords and other hondas u have to tho

There is no need to remove axles or master cylinders unless the engine has been changed.
Disconnect wires
Loosen belt tension
Remove alternator
Stuff to the passenger side
Unbolt alt. bracket
Work alt. out through the bottom.
Reverse for install

It's easy
Here's a picture if that's not enough

I did it on the side of the road once, without unbolting the master, or dropping the axel, loosened the motor mount and pulled the motor iver twisted the alt around and it slid out, after three hours of fucking with it. not the smartest, but 100 miles from home and few tools to work with.

If your car has aftermarket suspension (springs or coilovers) and it's easy to remove your struts, then you can just take the strut out and push your suspension down, it'll come right out - don't it tons of times when relacing alternators.
