Only in Japan! They are kinda different... kinda cool in that sense. They wouldn't be legal here maybe for show though? Remeber when complete clears were cool? It's funny how the Japanese kinda copy us... while we try to copy them. This company (www.active-k.jp) makes clear lights for just about any Japanese car including but not limited to Skylines. That's so cool!

depends on the color...there is a guy around here that has his 300zx painted sunburst orange and the amber looks good on that but just about every other color the slear looks better.
everyone could just do the fake clears like, yours truly. they look almost as good and they get rid of that amber for $20. not bad...:naughty:

I had some of the clear ones on my Z when I bought it. Nissan part numbers on them. I hated the way they looked...Sold em for 200 bux and found a set of JDM lights on ebay for $1.00. BONUS!!!

yep, thats how mine were done except i bought the pre-cut lenses on ebay for $10. cant tell except for the little black lines that run across in the true JDM ones...took me about an hour but thats mostly because i had to wait for the oven.

also, "ghetto" ones don't have the chrome inner housing as the jdm ones do, and i personally think that the chrome inner housing looks great.

oh yeah, now doubt about that but me like most other people would rather spend $10 to get the amber out than $400. i will probably get the true JDM ones over the summer sometime, but for now my fakies look just fine.

yeah, that is true. i might do it sometime to see how it would look on my car, and then in the future buy the real ones if it looks good.

nah i like the fakies. I like making parts rather than buying them. Gauge bezels, int. covering, yeah, its more fun to make. Who needs black lines on the lenses, also, when you put in the "fakies" you can just paint the housing chrome. a friend of mine did that and it looks just as good. whoopdy shit. And as for doin that then in the future buying the real ones. NO. whats the point?

well "she" wont know the difference and i know others will but i like showing craftsmanship in a car. Anyone can spend money and have someone make their parts but when it comes to things such as doing custom widebody kits or doing such things like Chip Foose does, I dont think they mock him for not buying a pre made kit or whatever part he creates

thats a true DIY guy, money saving is awsome plus creativity is always supported by me in this lame ass world, im a guitarist/ bassist ... ive been looking at prices on gibsons and fenders and they are rediculous ... prices go higher but its the same shit for 50 years
StealthZ32
01-20-2005, 12:13 AM
i completely agree with you, as long as people keep paying, they will keep raising the prices. its hard to get people not to pay so they lower but i mean, they dont need to be that high but hey, why the hell not? anyway yeah he is a true artist chip foose. Also, gibson and fenders are overpriced, i used to work in a music store, if you want, ill talk to my friend see if maybe we can hook up with something cool for a lower price. later

i just got my "fakie" conversion lenses in the mail today, but its like 2 degrees in my garage so ill do the conversion at a later point, when its a lil warmer to be out there for a while. but as for the jdm ones havin those cool little black lines in em, ill prolly just take a finetip sharpie to the back side of the new clear lenses and spray paint crome the inside of the light housing too.

thats gonna be a MESS!!! dont forget to go out and buy some new tar. if your gonan rip it all apart, your gonna need to clean it really good and then spray the inner housing chrome. (regular automobile tar remover works wonders on cleaing the tar off places you dont want it) i had a mess on my hands when i just slid the old one out and slid the new one in. it was fun though...
good luck...

i messed with those clips but i dont think that have anything to do with it...
you have to put it in the over for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees or so...like you put the back in the oven wedged between the door and the oven itself. sitting it between the door and the oven keeps it from melting but it gets the tar hot so you can peel the back off the front.
if you need ill explain it step by step but that should help...
are you doing the lines and chroming the housing>??? if you are, your gonna need to pull it all the way apart and then re-tar the seals and use clamps to squeeze it back together as tight as you can get...
good luck!!! remember to use gloves to protect your hands because that tar gets really hot...i used rubber gloves and it burnt right through them.

yeah i wanted to finish em tonight but i guess ill finish tomorrow. do any of u (k3) know for sure if those little tabbies hold the ouside lense in or not cuz if not thatll save alot of trouble, and yeah im gunna pray crome the housing...did u gues do that or leave the housing white?? or whatever it slready is.. and yeah i think im gunna try yo replicate those black lines but for those ill practice on some flourencent light diffusor first so i can get it right, im thinkin sharpie or electrical tape, or black wire im not sure yet but well see, ill post pics if i can figure out how to
now that i think about it, sprayin the housing black might be pretty cool too, instead of crome...hmmmmm

i dont think the little tabs do anything...i played with them but when i pryed it apart it didnt look like they made a difference.
i just opened one side of mine and slide out the amber lens and slid in the clear lens and then clamped it back together and let it cool...
