Right now I have a '94 SL and between full coverage insurance and the bank I am paying just under $400/month for it. I've decided that i'm going to go for a VR4 as soon as winter is done and I was wondering:
What are you guys paying total per month for your car and for what kind of 3S??

There was a thread about this awhile back, called something like 'how much have you spent on your car in total'...it had quite a few people's responses to this very same question.

Damn, that's a buttload. I have a '94 SL as well and I'm paying about $700/6 months--so about $117 or so per month. And I have full coverage as well. Who's your insurance company with? You should definitely shop around....I'm with SafeCo if you're wondering. And I've managed to get a couple discounts with them: good student, anti-theft, etc. Good luck on your search....your VR4's gonna be EXPENSIVE I think!!

Damn $700/6 months full coverage, I wish...hmm better also ask what state you're in and how old you are too? I'm 20 (21 in a couple weeks) in NY. Yeah the VR4 is gonna be expensive but I can handle it. I just want to know the monthly payments total, not how much was spent total.

Yeah, there are a couple reasons for that. I'm 23, have a clean record (except for accidents, I don't know if it will raise the insurance but I think the DMV was saying something like I had some points on my record or something), under my father's policy with multiple car discount, anti-theft, good student, and some other ones I can't remember. I'm in CA next to SF so I don't know if that'll make it more/less expensive. Also, I don't have a VR4 so yeah.... :p

*update*
I don't know what happened but in the last 2 months my monthly insurance payment went from $323 to $128 for full coverage. I don't know why, but I don't care either. Plus i'm finally an A+ student so I can get a good student discount on top of that! woo! Just thought i'd share.

twizted you better call your insurance company to verify your coverages have not changed. going from 323 to 128 per month is very unrealistic unless your coverages drastically changed, or you had an OBSCENE amount of activity and it all fell off at once.

Yeah I went and checked, it's still full coverage, and they said it's probably because I turned 21. Also get this, I went and got my good student discount...25% off!!! now my monthly payment is around $90....needless to say I'm so freakin relieved! I love State Farm now.

GATEWAY--> can we all expect a drop in insurance prices when we turn 21? [what a nice b-day present that would be!]

I'm not Gateway but it is a fairly common practice for insurance companies to drop your rates once you reach 21.

all different amounts. does not happen on your birthday, but at the renewal after you turn that age.

Hmm...that's why my premium was a bit lower this time. Because last time, it was like $700 or so and this past December (when I turned 23), it dropped about $20 bucks. Not by much but hey, I'll take it. :iceslolan

Well mine was $323 a month, so you're still doing better than I was, and I only had 4 tickets on there.

Mine has always went down the month of my birthday which is September. My renewals are in January and July. What they do is drop the payment then give me credit for however much of the down payment to be square. I am always paid a month in advance so thats where the credit comes from.

lol yea this question has been asked many times a while back. I'm playing really close to $4,000 per year for my "SL". I live in New Jersey and i think that's way too much for a non-turbo car. I'd only do it for a 3000gt though ... :)
*Omg 93 TT! THAT"S A LOT! $8k+ per year ....... wow

ya - i am in jersey as well ... gieco doesnt help either lol - ya i would be mad if i was payin that for a POS hehe - but its for my TT so its worth it an then again its not .... I had this accident were this guy was doin 70-75mph on a road here an i saw him so i stopped (i was ina truck) the guy spased when he saw me an the rear of his car rubbed along the front of the truck.. mind u i was not even crossed the yellow line... the guy turns out to be the one that feeds the cops here... he didnt even slow down went like a mile down the road outa sight... so i waited an waited - 10 mins went by ... i get out checked the front of my truck- heh.. no damage just a grey line on the steal bumper so i was like fuck it an started to pull off...since he didnt come back an it i know it doesnt take that long to turn around... i go down this dirt road bout 25 mph its a nasty road - has this 90 degree turn in it... an come to find out i blew out both front brake lines an the steering box broke from the impact. so the truck does a 180 an gets half in a ditch - then i get out an am like shit... this looks bad now - looks like i ran from the scene an what not.... the truck was a 1982 F100 - 3 spd on the collum- basically a wall on wheels - i hit a deer goin 70 an nothing happend... so its old... i call the cops about 15 trooper cars show up - i was like woah! i didnt rob a bank guys they had guns drawn an all... needless to say i got (8 point) wrecklesss ticket along with 7 others so after that i only got like 2 other speeding tickets an bingo i am up there in the points.... sucks - 1 thing really fucked up my driving record - an needless to say it wasnt my fault - i should of called the cops at the scene but it was before cell phones were big ... so ya thats how i got my 17+ points :(
