dull headlights

I have a 97 s-10 2 door and the headlights do not shine very bright (old technology). I was wondering if anybody has ever put headlights from a 00 or newer onto a 97 to get better performance?

find some 95 or 100 watt bulbs, will work out good

Clean the grounds right up first, and if your not happy add relays, and Brighter headlights at the same time. That's the best that you can get then.

How is your alternator?

Check the reading on he dash gauge? Is it reading above 14volts?

thanks for the reply's...the altermator is fine, the headlights are the kind were you unplug the whole headlight not just change a bulb and every replacement I get just does not light up the road very well

Here in Canada even Canadian Tire has more powerfull lights for your truck, and a relay can be wired into any headlight's often making them brighter (even stock weak lights)

the guage reads 14 to 15, I have replaced the lights with sylvania silverstar, I know part of my proplem is I am comparing them to a 01 outback that lights the road up real nice. I was just hoping there was a way to get the same performance

If you want brighter lights you will have to go with ones that aren't street legal.

I have silverstars on my 97, w/ composite headlights, i know what you mean. Go on ebay they have a "HID conversion" I dont think its a true HID but there going to be as close as you can get without spending hundreds of dollars. Other wize Im putting a 98 front end on my truck w/ projector headlights and HID conversion kit on in a couple months. Ill let you know how that goes when i get that all set up. Sure its going to be expensive but it will be worth it in the long run. well good luck
