If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. I have an 02 Explroer and there are a few things that started going wrong all at the same time. First, my parking lights come on maybe 20 min. after I shut the car off. Second, when I'm driving, my electric locks lock and unlock all the time priodically. Third, my reverse lights quit working. Please help. I have been to the Ford dealership and they are stumped.

parking light?

do you mean the light by your speedometer gauge?

Or on the outside, in back of your suv?

The new fords have a feature in which the doors lock automatically after your in drive gear and the first time you hit the brake....usually in reverse or driving down the road.

AND your reverse lights are both out or just individual? and are they totally inop or just on and off?

Thanks for the reply. The lights on the outside front and outside back come on maybe 5 min. after I shut the car off and stay on until I start the car again. And both reverse lights have been replaced and still inop. And the locks lock and unlock several times while I am driving.

ok the problem with your reverse lamps is there is either an open or a short.

you need a ohm meter and a volt meter. also I suggest a repair manuel such as haynes or chilton of that sort., you might need one to find the circuits and test points.
you can usaully buy a multi-meter that has both of these., this tool comes in handy.

there is two test points for inop reverse lamps.
one is between the digital TR sensor(harness side) and ground. (C167 pin 9, circuit 1087(OG))
or
the second one is between the reverse lamp switch (harness side) and ground. (C169, circuit 1087 pin 2(OG))
check for voltage. is it greater that 10 volts?

if its not above 10v its the circuit.

if its over 10v then you must measure for resistance, which is ohms.

measure between the digital TR sensor(harness side) and ground. (C167, pin 11 circuit 140(BK/PK))
or
measure between the reverse lamp switch(harness side) and ground. (C169, pin 1 circuit 140(BK/PK))
is resistance less than 5 ohms?

if its is then you got to change you digital TR sensor

If its not circuit 140 is bad and you must repair it. or circuit 1205.

as for your locks it may be a open,.....opens make funny things happen. if you fix one problem it may take care of another problem.
I can prolly help you with your parking lamp problem later i got to go to work=( post if you have any questions.
