Can I skip a filter change?

I bought a '99 Cav with 33k. My mechanic did my first LOF and now my buddy and I just did a second one, but we didn't know the engine size when we were at the store so we couldn't buy a filter. Is it OK to wait till next time to change the filter? We did change the oil.
Also, can we only lube the chassis every third oil change or should we do it every time? Help!!!

Not changing the oil filter when doing an oil change is pointless. The filter is where all the crap collects.. So it is important to change it when changing the oil.

Well it depends. You don't have to do it every time but if you have the money and want the parts of your car to last longer why not?

But the main thing is.. When you do an oil change on your car, make sure you do the filter as well.. If you don't....... then you really didn't do anything..
