Hmm.....

You might, but the side mount is for the OBDII and the top mount is for the OBDI.

You wil also probably swap some part from the engine you are taking out to make sure everything is running properly.

Plus, the new engine you are putting in has a crank sensor for automatic timing.

Try to get a OBDII engine instead of the one you are getting now.

Will any obd II 4.3 engine swap into a 95 blazer?
I am in need of utting anew engine in my blazer and am curious what all is involved in swapping out from cpi to possibly tpi or even what other 4.3 engine would swap in.
Does the engine I swap in have to be a "W" engine as mine is and if not, what will be the differences and changes needed to make it function properly?

leave the cpi inthere, it has more HP than the 1996 4.3Ls.

If you're buying the earlier engine (top post mount) You will need to swap over the following from your original engine...

Lower intake (it's keyed for the side post mount dist.)
Distributor
Timing cover (or buy new one)
Crank sensor
Reluctor wheel (on the crank)

Note the placement of all your existing sensors. You will more than likely have to pull one of the passenger side pipe plugs for the knock sensor..

(Went through this on my second engine)

If you want to use a 96+ block you will need to swap over the following...

Lower intake
Heads (your intake won't bolt to the 96+ heads, but your pre 96 heads will bolt to the block fine)
Distributor will be the same...
Again, not placement of sensors and adjust as needed

The newer block will already have the proper timing cover w/ crank sensor in it...

(went through this on my 3rd engine)
