2001 allison shift problem

The indicator lights on my dash stopped working and shortly after my tranny stopped shifting and "service engine soon" light appeared. Hooked up a scanner and showed a vehicle speed sensor fault. The service manual I have doesn't even list my transmission (allison 1000) and I can't locate this sensor, please help. Truck is an 01 GMC Sierra HD with the 8.1 L V-8.
