Ok so I played paintball this past weekend and had a blast. I'm thinking of going to play more now, but I'm tired of using those lame rental guns. Anyone have any suggestions on what gun to get? I'm not looking to play tournaments or anything, but it would be nice to be able to shoot in a straight line and have something that would be consistant. Also I'm not sure if I understand the guns so much. So the gun is made of like 5 parts right? The marker(gun part), barrel, trigger, hopper (where you load the paintballs), and co2(although i heard someone mention something bout no2). If this is true which marker(gun) should I get that I can upgrade later easily? What should I look for in a marker, barrel, trigger, or even hopper?
Are these guns on overstock any good?

get a tippmann 98 custom, one of the best markers you can buy for its price. very moddable and durable. Or get a spyder victor II if you want something cheaper, they shoot straight and have pretty good range

I would have to agree with publicenemy137, a tippmann is a really good gun. Most of the people i know use tippmann 98 customs and love it. I have a Spyder TL Plus, but i would go with the tippmann.

I third that. I've had a Tippman 98 Custom for 2 years - never done me wrong, and it served too other guys before that. They call it the "AK-98" for a reason. Lol you can beat the shit out of the thing and it will always shoot, reliably. and you see them everywhere. I've got mine with a CP 14 inch barrel and it works great. 14" is accurate as hell, but go any longer and it will start slowing down the ball.

definatley go with 98 custom consider it the honda civic of paintball you can so many performance upgrades for it its no funny not to mention the fact that if u ever go to big games or long senario games the 98 custom and whatever you have on it are EXTREMLY reliable and if you really wanna spend the money then go with n2(nitro) if not co2 will do just fine

Yeah. I got a Spyder Sonix. Its eh. an Ok gun. But I got a lot of stuff with it. I only changed the barrel with one that was 2 inches longer I got from WalMart. I dont know how well this one can be modded. Does anyone know?? My cousin and my friend, of course, have 98 cutoms and they modded a good bit. They put double hair triggers and other random things. My cousin got a Flatline Barrel. Talk about accuracy and range. Whoo it did good but the paintballs didnt seem to break. Just went too straight maybe. But for CO2 tanks. Stick with 9oz for mobility. 12oz for general use. and 20oz to 24oz for LOTs of shooting. Ive only seen up to 24oz. Sure they may be bigger ones. My gun is very light to begin with and most of the weight comes from the hopper and maybe the tank if I use the 20oz. Also got what I guess is called a reciever. Just a hose that links to the gun and then to the tank on my belt. Takes off weight and can move the gun better. Also for the belt. It holds 4 View Loaders and up to a 24oz tank in the back. Kinda good but cumbersome when running. Unless you empty 400 paintballs from your waist fast. For tank connections you can have the tank connect right under the barrel on mine or put a hose with a handle over it and connect it under the pistol grip. But if you want to save LOTS of money you could always pick up a Blade. J/K.

ive got an Tippmann A-5 and i love it. The only problem Ive ever had with it is when your low on ammo the balls sit to fat back in the hopper to feed into the cyclone system. The 98c is a great marker as well, I just like the A-5 because you dont have to spend alot of extra money for a good hopper. Go to www.pbreview.com to help make up your mind on what marker to get.

I heard the tippmann A-5 has problems with its cyclone feeding system. A friend broke on his the first day. Also since the cyclone feeding system feeds off of c02, it eats up a shitload of c02. I use a 20 oz and 12 oz c02 tank backup, the compressed air tanks cost a shitload and they are mainly for automatic paintball guns that can't use c02, b/c c02 tends to get real cold fast and freezes up the paintballs. Only mod i've done is a 14 " teardrop barrel, it's accurate as shit and is silent. I love it. I don't think I would need any other mods, triggers or auto feeders would just force me to spray and waist more paintballs rather than carefully aiming my shots

I have a spyder esprit and a tippmann 98 custom, the spyder sucks by my opinion,I've had alot of seals go out on it, not sure if it's just mine but I don't even use it anymore, thinking of selling it, BUT my 98c on the other hand is so awsome, never had a prob yet, I use it every time I go and know it's gonna shoot right every time. So my advise would be a A-5 or a 98 custom, I don't have the cyclone feeder though, got some other electronic one, and a 20 oz. tank that takes forever to empty.

I got electronic feed I guess. ITs a cheapass one. Just a normal hopper with a little piece of plastic that spins around so they keep going into the gun. Its better than having to shake the hell out of the gun to get it to shoot.

If you just want to shoot straight the tippmann will be fine. If you want to shoot good straight, fast, consisent, have great upgradabilty options, go for a spyder imagine,e99, anything electric. seriously, any spyder with good barrel(J&J ceramic, Smart parts tear drop barrel is accurate. NO2 makes your gun so much more consistant, but is quite expensive(100+for almost any tank. hoppers(where you put the balls;), 12 volt revilution hopper is your best bet. im experienced with paintballing, listen to me. (i hope you do bro).
