Headlight Retainer

Has anyone else suffered the retainer losing the clips that hold the light in place? When I went to replace the light and twisted off the retainer, the little black clips broke off. I know that's not supposed to happen but it almost seems impossible to work with them being in the way. So if anyone else has had this happen to them, what did you do to keep the lights in place???

the bulb retainers are a joke, they are almost impossible to take off without breaking them. And i looked all over the web trying to find them from napa, oreily's, carquest, no one caries them. You get to go to your local gm dealer and tell them what your looking for and they know exactly what your talking about without even looking at a catalog or computer because people end up buying them all the time. Then they charge you a little over 20 dollars for the two of them.

I used silicone on my bulbs for a while till they started working their way out of alignment.
