Car audio gurus...why would my speakers stop working??

One day my speakers in my 97 BMW 328is just stopped working (not even a hiss). I replaced the fuses thinking that it maybe blew a fuse but, that wasn't the case. So, I thought the receiver was shot so I installed another one and still no sound. Does anyone have any ideas of why my speakers would stop working?

Thank you for acknowledging my superiority in audio technology. I will gladly help you.
First, make sure the volume is turned up.
If that doesn't work, kick em.
That's all I got.

unfortunately you have nothing but poor young punks that usually hang out in the audio forums. Yes, you have an amplifier in your car. THat's probably is what you have going wrong. You'll need to check the power/grounds at the amp. You should also double check that at the radio too. Make sure the radio is getting power and ground. Also, check to make sure it is putting out the radio turn on signal that powers on the amp.

why?
because we don't have a huge, mindless boner for a mediocre company?
if all the speakers stopped working at the same time then it's the amp, you'll need to run your own speaker wire from the headunit's built in amp to each speakers individually, bypassing the stock amp.

yea, fuck the stock amp... replace all that shitty shit. Unfortunately theres these mid life crisis old fogies that think they have to show us up with their attempts to save the day and feel young again. 2 10's in an SUV? ouch. And tuned to 45 hz? OUCH! thats some high pitch bass. Punk.

yes, it does have an a built in amp. the connection was loose and that is why I was not getting any sound. You're logic is a hell of a lot better then the "just kick it" method
Thanks,

The rest of you. Man, you guys almost made me wet my fur. Sure doesn't take much to get a rise(small one of course) out of you.
On the real note, it doesn't really matter what you have for a system as long as it is built right. I personally am sick and tired of these kids around here thinking that Circuit City and other big chains "out of the box" crap is the only way to go.
Seriously, if any of you are in the midwest and go to car sound competitions, look me up. You'll be impressed what this stuff is about.
FYI Orion is owned and operated by DEI along with PPI, and A/D/S. They now have a new line from the Orion line from West Coast Customs. I'd give you a link but they have not been released yet but look monsterous.
Thanks,
Paul

Mad Mike has no control at all in what go's in those cars. Sponsors just hook them up with free equipment, and he's told to install it.
If you go to your local audio shop and had someone install two Wal-Mart subs, that doesn't make the audio shop guy a tard, he's just doin his job. So in other words: GO MAD MIKE WOOOO!

First off you can look to different sponsors. If they did a lot of PPI, orion, JL, directed amps, MB quart, and other good mainstream stuff then it would be cool, but I lost all respect for mad mike when he claimed the fosgate power stage 2's to be the most powerful woofer in the world (TITANIUM CONE WOOT!!) and especially since RF ahs made a better sub (the team RF sub) that makes it even worse. Then they use things like bazooka tubes and MM claims that "this is like 6000 watts of pure music power" More like 600 watts.

I 2nd that. For the record, DEI has not given them any "free" equipment. That was all done by West Coast. As far as other brands, not sure if they throw product at them or not but I can say that DEI has not. In fact, the last meeting from one of the big cheeses from DEI made mention of "free publicity" when he talked about that show.

yea mad mike is just silly. When I can use the word silly to describe somebody and still feel manly, thats pretty bad. Hes just straight up silly. I think when they did that chicks vanilla ice mustang in a red and gold, he said it had 6000 watts of pure music power.. I about lost it... I guarantee there was no more than 1500 watts in that car. (maybe 2000, but 6000? gimme a break) He shouldnt be able to lie like that. At least Xzibit is honest... "Mad Mike dont lie on national television man." .... that was great, made my day.

Yeah, you gotta laugh when watching that show. I mean, after they are done with the car, you can still see dirt and dents in the paint. Granted, the vehicle looks more road worthy than when they brought it in but you all know those cars are just band aided with Bling Bling!
You guys (and lady) heard about this one? It even talks about the Mustang!!!

yeah, I will agree that some of the stupid shit that West Coast Customs does to cars on Pimp My Ride is pretty bad, although, they are doing the best they can with what they are given, and they are working for free, or very little. Keep that in mind. Its just entertainment. Watch it if you want, or else flip the channel. Dont base if a product is good or not by if its used in the mustang (or whatever) on Pimp My Ride, thats just bogus.

Yep, most people are just blind sheep. Peer pressure and the crap on TV works wonders on the young'ns. You know, I've never been that way and glad too. All the time you see people "following the crowd" and for what reason? Personally, I hated Fast & Furious. I thought it sucked big ones and I hated most of the cars but sadly, it really brought up my bussiness. Ditto for Pimp my ride. I already was pushing DEI Audio and little punks would try to tell me MTX and Fosgates were they way to go at the big chains!!! That's all stopped now

I understand the blind sheep mentality. if you want stuff cheap, hang out at the local car stereo shop. The car stereo companies have these kids hooked on their product like a drug. You can buy a brand new unit that has never been opened .... cuz they HAD to have the new unit that just came out from another company.
