how do you do carbon fiber?

I have done carbon fiber in Photoshop the same way i do tint...take the brush and lower the opacity and color the selected area with whatever color you want. Is that the right way to do it? How do most people do it??

i have tried that before but you can see the slightest bit of texture in his and thats what im wanting
