Yep, the nx nitrous express wet kit will be here in the next 2 weeks. I couldn't take staying in the 12s, so I got a kit coming my way. I'll have my new rearend in this week, and then I'll just sit back and wait for the man in the brown truck to get here. I'm going conservative on it at first, probably a 75-100shot. We'll see how the truck handles it, and go from there. I'm really looking for some low 11s out of the 100 shot, and then I'm going to make plans to beef up the low end alittle more and really push this thing.

well soon it will be "all bottle no throttle" lolz anyways great times your running already, but your trap speed is definitly alittle on the low side for the E.T. your running. ( i'm use to imports running that trap speed and still in the mid 13's ) the big shot of juice would definitly help in all areas giving you have the traction for it.

be careful with those wet kits, even though they made some advances in nozzle design, fuel will never have the same flow properties as a gas so its very posible to get different Af ratios between cilinders, or in worst cases backfire. The severity of this varies greatly from car to car depending on manifold design.
Personally I would opt for a properly tuned dry kit or it you can afford it a direct port.
Anyway just my opinion and good luck.

You know, bottles are for babies! LOL. Just J/K, although it does make me a little sad to see a fellow Chevrolet person revert to the bottle. But hey, you'll def. be well into the 11s I bet with a 100 shot.
You keep on and you'll be faster then that 10 second Silverado with the turbo.

That's because his truck is not very aerodynamic and it hurts him on the top end. The force of the wind is much greater at 100+ mph, than at the beginning.

Yeah, I know its sad that I have to resort to the bottle, but I still have a little while to get a new best motor run. To be honest with you guys, I'm really getting the bottle for more of a comfort factor. I do alot of racing on the street, and alot of it involves some money switching hands. I can pretty much beat anything in my area, but there are times when the tires cut loose on me, and I need that extra kick in the pants to put me back ahead. Basically, I won't be spraying it alot, it's really there "just in case". Besides, I've still got awhile to change my mind and sell the kit to my buddy, if I want to stay "pure". :grinyes: Only time and my next trip to the track will tell. I'll keep you guys updated.

hey whatever gets your jollies off man. Ive been against N02 for a long time, but lately im starting to see its good points. Ive been looking into N02 for my car, i was thinking about a 35 dry shot. My car with the charger runs pretty rich stock, so i think i will be fine with a small shot, just something to get me into the 13's.

Ah man don't let a bunch of people on some message board talk ya out of spraying! You seem to be smart about these kind of things, and nitrous is fine when you do it right.
Its the people that go overboard with high compression engines and non-forged internals that end up with destroyed engines!
So if you go that route, be sure and be smart about it (which I'm sure you will be).
Good luck with it though! And don't get too fast now, I'd hate to think a street truck would be able to keep up with my race car!

I think there is a chance on getting the 11s without spray. My rearend goes in this week, and I'll actually get to launch the truck above idle. I think with the addition of the underdrive pullies, the recent weight reduction of about 200lbs, and a nice 1400-1500rpm launch, I should be really close.

I don't think you'll ever have anything to worry about me getting that fast. You're right on the safety factor. I'm in no hurry to mess up this motor because I was irrespondsible with the nitrous setup. I'm going to do alot of data logging and tuning to get it just right and not have me losing sleep at night.

Neutrino is right too about the roll cage deal. But you probably already know this. What is the cut off for a roll bar anyways, 11.50?
For that matter, what is the cut off for having to have a parachute? Is it below 9.99, or is it higher?

I don't know about the shoot(never have to worry about it! ), but most tracks will not let me get away with an 11 without the cage. I've already found a guy to make my cage, and we've already taken several measurements and decided on what routes we're going to have to take to make it all work. It's alot of damn work making a cage work in these trucks!!!!

I'd say it is alot of work, lol. But man it will look sweet, especially if you pad it when like a grey or black padding, to match your interior.
I guess you're getting fast enough to have to have 5-point belts (that would be the kicker for me I'd say at a 1/4-track, not that I could run a 1/4 with the way its set up, but I only have 4-point belts-and I'm pretty sure its 9.99 and below that requires a chute, and I'd probably only run 10.20-10.50).
I remember seeing the pics of your new racing seats, but I cant remember what kind of belts you had.

I have a 4-point setup right now. I ordered the 5-points, but didn't mount the middle belt yet. I went with the R.J.S setup, and I love it so far.

Right. I actually think mine are 5-point as well without the middle belt mounted, but either way, mine are way out dated, lol. That'll be one of the first things I do when I get out of school, get new belts so its legal to run at any track.
And you know, I'm not sure of the brand, but that R.J.S sounds familiar, lol (my uncle built this car when I was too young to really keep up with these things, lol).
Well since you'll be able to launch at a higher RPM, then you will no doubt knock a tenth or two off your time (provided you can hook up at a higher RPM). I only launch at 3400 RPMs, where most people in my class launch well above 4000. My uncle launches his new car as high as the converter will stall! But anything over 3800 RPMs in mine will just cuase nothing but trouble. The front wheels go up (more) and its just impossible to drive. I tried it at 3600 RPMs this season, and all it did was make it feel like it left harder, and throw my reaction times way off. We used to launch it at liek 4400 or 4200, but that was with a 355. When we switched to 406s, we had to cut it way down.

I don't understand why everyone is against nitrous, fast is fast, I don't care how you do it
Anyway, as someone else stated, you don't need a rollbar now until 11.49 or faster, so go for it! I'm not familiar with the GM 6.0, but I know our 5.9's can handle a 150 shot safely (with good gas and pulling some timing to be safe). Probably good to start small like you said, 75-100 shot and go from there. And I know exactly how you feel, when I started out I said I wanted solid 12's, then I hit low 12's and said might as well go for 11's, now I have high 11's and I want mid 11's, it never ends! :ylsuper:

Lol, yeap. I could imagine.
You know, after reading RedKnecks post about his latest run in with a Z06 (it was awesome that he was able to do what he did), this is what's going to eventually happen to him! You know, he has the whole sleeper/shocker thing working perfect, and one of these days he's going to have a run in with a truck (like yours or SlowProcess's) and get a dose of his own medicine! lol.
Lol, yeap. I could imagine.

Most of the time I wont even race trucks. If I win..I don't feel like I accomplished anything..and if I lose..I feel slow. :(
But you feel like you accomplished something by beating cavaliers and civics? :screwy:
Just messing with ya :p I'll race anything, cause you never know what you're gonna get. My favorite are cars that I think will beat me, cause it feels better if I win, and if I lose it just motivates me to go even faster. No fun in just slaughtering someone, but if they want the beating, I'll still give it to them

Sleeper vs. sleeper! That would be awesome, neither one knowing what they're up against LOL

There are some fast cars out here in SoCal, I just gotta find them.
When I do, I'm sure I'll get trounced on hard.

Well, I don't know if I'd go that far, lol. You're car probably will run mid to high 12s, so its going to take something in the low 12s or high 11s to really put some distance on ya! And I just don't think they are that many 11 second street cars running around, lol.

So your car is a 72 model. That's what model the Vega is in my sig.
That slightly long nose and hatchback must have been the style for small cars in 72, lol.

Lol. Do you ever plan on making it a straight track car or are you just giong to keep it deadly street sleeper? You sure do have the perfect weight for it to start with. Of course adding a full cage and V-8 would add alot of weight back, but you could offset that somewhat with figerglass doors, etc.

I like my street car, it's fun to ride around in a car that'll give a Corvette a hard time with only a lap belt on.
Which really is stupid, I'll get good seats and a harness setup soon. But it keeps the sleeper look.

Why not race a truck?
late in the convo but...
racing trucks is fine really, i raced my friends silverado 1500 on the way home one night and owned him (lesse, honda prelude highend vs. stock pickup...whose gonna win?)
but other than that i dont. period. maybe its cuz i grew up around fast trucks. one of my buddies in highschool chased down a viper in his chevy, and ive seen more smallblock s-10's than i wanna think about. any truck wanting to race usually has something to prove, and that means my little honda wont be seeing anything but tailights.
besides, i wouldnt want those gas drinkin v-8s to waste any precious fuel on lil ol me.

I can understand that. You know, getting race seats and belts could go that way, but it could also go this way: someone might see it, laugh at it, and even further set themselves up for a shock.
SlowProcess has them in his truck, and I could imagine some cocky guy in a Vette (non-Z06) seeing them, laughing, and then getting smoked by it!

Hell, yeah... Cocky guys see my seats and harnesses, and usually say something along the lines of "you plan on going fast in that thing?", etc. I usually respond with something along the lines of "line them up and find out." These are the guys I don't try to ring by barely beating them. These are the guys I go balls to the wall on.
Bad360rt- It would be crazy if two trucks like ours every met up on the road sometime. Both of them just sitting there thinking the other is a "easy" kill. Because of your truck, I won't be running any blown RTs until I get my shot on. Can't be too careful when money is on the line. :grinyes: I'll try ANY new model truck on motor though. There aren't many new ones out there in the 12s on motor, so I feel the odds are stacked my way a little.

Yeah sleepers are awesome. I race anything that will race, and most of the time i know ill lose. But you cant expect much out of a 5200 lb brick of a bronco with a small stock 302 in it. Ive beat a few and lost a lot, but its still fun no matter what the outcome was. My favorite thing though is from a dead stop, to just see the face when the torque of my bronco shows up and jumps them bad off the line.

Some how I knew that had happened to you, lol. That's why I posted it!
It would be cool to see two "sleeper" trucks come across each other. It would be like on Animal Showdown (or whatever that show is called-I know someone on here has seen it-and its probably called somethign else) when two seriously tough animals (like a Grizzly Bear and a Lion for example) come across each other. Both would be confident in their abilities (like two sleeper trucks) and both would think they are going to win, lol.
