Help Z3 drives airbag question

On the steering wheel between the 2 horn symbols, where the BMW logo is, when you depress it does it go in much, seems like most cars Ive owned, the airbag in the steering wheel is very tight, cant depress it much (if any). Its like nothing is behind there, airbag light is not on, but comes on during ignition (normal)
