Low Coolant light......

The wife called me this morning saying the Low Coolant light came on. I had her check to make sure the Temp guage is ok and it was. Since i wont be able to check it till this evening i'm trying to figure what it might be. I dont think its low coolant, but wonder if that damn coolant sensor popped off again. The one that attaches to the radiator on the passenger side. last year the thing came off. The ears on the port of the radiator broke off so i had to twist the sensor around so i could get the wire bracket to hold on to the piece that didnt break off. anyone else have any ideas? If it is the coolant sensor port and more of that part broke off, what are my options?

It cold be the sensor but many (including me) have a bad intake manifold gasket causing oil and coolant to leak. Seems that around 50k to 60k miles, the gasket starts failing on many montanas.

I'm right in the middle of changing mine out. Shops want around $650 to change it out. It's quite a project - especially for a diy weekend mechanic like me.

The light went out after a while. I noticed the coolant was pretty low in the reserve tank which could of triggered the sensor.

You should have your intake manifold gaskets checked. My Low Coolant light started coming on even though the reserve tank was full.

The coolant starts gumming up (I don't know if it's because of the leaky intake manifold gaskets or just something that the dexcool does after time) and can block the fluid in the tank from getting into the radiator.

I took mine to a shop for a flush and the reserve tank was full. He opened the radiator cap and there was hardly any fluid at all in it.

My low coolent light comes on only when the car is warming up, My intake gasket was just changed. And i have only noticed it since. My water leaves are allways fine when i check it. Can you give me a more in depth description on how to locate it.
