hey guys, im new to the forum, but anyway, im thinking about picking up another car, its gonna be a honda, but im thinking about going eithier with an EF civic, or CRX, i will definatly swap the motor, and make it N/A, hopefully once im finished with it all i hope that i will be able to make it run 12's maybe 11's if all goes well. so what do you guys think?

You wanna run 11's with an N/A civic? I don't think you could do it even if you swapped in a J-spec H22a...good luck with that.

thats gonna have to be one heck of a serious motor to run 11s naturally aspirated. Not to mention, getting the power to front wheels to support it.

boost is so much easier. . .

i have seen it done, there is a guy running around here in a h22a prelude and hes running 11.4 n/a. and i think with the proper tuning youll be able to do those times.

nah im not gonna need any nitrous, anyway i know you all probably think boost is better, and dont get me wrong its tight, but just seeing an all motor civic running 12's is more impressive than seeing a turboed civic running 12's.

You're going to need pretty much all new engine components and a really high C/R and you might see 13s. Does anyone know if theres any such thing as a naturally aspirated B16A running 300hp+? Seeing a civic run 12s period is impressive. Turbo OR N/A.

I couldn't fathom a B16A making 300 hp...that's like what, 150 hp per liter? That's like RX7/8 rotary territory there...how much power did the N/A prelude that ran 11.4 make? Had to have been close to 400bhp.

a few years back in the pro drags, the fastest n/a honda was in the 10's, and they ran on H23's with a H22 v-tec head running 12:1+ compression ratio. the output of the engine was only 330 crank hp. however the car had nothing in it, it has plexy glass windows etc etc.
also think its impressive to build a n/a 11 second car, but do you have any idea how high strung that n/a engine is goin to be? it will barff out its guts 10X faster then a boosted engine making the same power.

EF civics are the 92-95's right? my gf just picked up one but its an auto, and that is more than 150hp per liter and you would have to strip the car entirely, cut out all unnecessary pieces and with a stock B16A you might hit high 13's but i'm not seeing it happening easily, Edelbrock has a turbo kit for the EF civic EX and SI that'll put you in the 14's same power to the ground as my car and 500lbs less and it will most likely cost you 3k less to turbo it like that than to just switch engines and hit low 15's
boosting is the way to go and trust me, there is nothing like the sound of a sweet BOV to scare off any rice

a 11sec n/a honda is not gona be a daily driver, it will be way to unrealibe to drive every day, see if it was a boosted honda you can eaisly turn the boost down or even drive off boost and save wear and tear on your motor..

I think I saw an 11.5 all motor Teg in a magazine a while back, so it is possible, but it was running a B18C (I think thats the Teg Type R motor...could be wrong)

i think thats the GSR motor actually, the type R motor has something different doesn't it? the A and B are for the teggie LS and RS and GS models

Ah ok...all I know is it was running a Type R motor, fully built, 11.5, with no turbo, super or nitrous.

i'm pretty sure the typeR wouldnt' hold boost even if you tried or something about not being compatible but i only know what i'm told so i might be wrong, an all motor typeR running 11.5 is insane

I'll try to find the magazine add if I can. It was insane. The 11 was on drags, but on streets thats still hella fast with a good launch.

ok everyone missed the big question
why does it have to be a honda, expand your horizons beyond slow, underpowered, bad handling cars. yes i own a honda so dont say i have no idea what im talking about

i tell you what, the 96-00 civics had pretty good chassis and w/ a K20A2 motor in it it would tear up like a bat out of hell, well at least high 14's so not all of them are ENTIRELY bad...but you could definitely do better than the respect that comes w/ honda
