Does anyone feel that the skyline has been the influence of the impala? if you look at the impala veruses the skyline, many things fit together...the headlights, the hood style THE TAIL LIGHTS! geez...it's almost a spitting image...anyways...lets here your thoughts

Actully i referring to not just the r34...i also ment the r33/r32....and the skyline from the mid 80's the one that had that late 80s sentra look...they had square style tail lights but had chrome rings right smack in the middle...which gave it that circular look...anyways...look at the whole car...i'm not just referring to the tail lights...looks at the headlights...and the body style...and not saying chevy stole ideas from the skyline...maybe nissan took some ideas from chevy...which if they did, they only improved it...because the impalas suck...to me anyways..im more of a import person though i like all cars,,,they all have beauty to me...

The 1962 Impala had distinctive circular tail lights. They have stayed with the theme for years.

I don't think anyone took anything from anybody. It is common for car designs to follow a theme. Impalas didn't always suck. The 1964 Impala SS was a beast with 409 CI and plenty of power. New school Domestics are generally a mess though.

Well... It is kind of inevitable for cars to look-alike. I am not too familiar with cars of the 1940's... All of the hotrods look the same to me. I said this to my uncle, and he gave me millions of reasons why they're different.
He said to me that he doesnt see the difference in a Supra, or a Skyline, or a Zed Car, or an Impala for that matter... And I gave him a million reasons why they're different.
They are different if you know what your looking for... But cars are always going to look similar to other cars... Its just so hard to make a succesful car that stands out. Hence: Avalanche, Aztec, etc.... The cars may have sold... And they do look different... But they are not considered 'good-looking' by the general public.
So instead of companies taking the plunge into a different style, they just conform to the other cars that are at the top, in an attempt to mimic their success.
I can only think of a few cars that have ever taken the public by storm... In 1990 when the Zed32 hit American soil, the American public was taken aback by it. It was a true sports car, and affordable at that. And the striking looks that could be mistake for an exotic car; by a lesser knowing person, made the car an instant classic.
Same thing with JZA80, and FD3S... They are unique, and the only cars that really can match them pound for pound stock, are the cars that are in the same league...
So... Im not entirely sure why I just wrote a novel about the subject.... And I think only a percentage of that should give my thoughts on the subject at hand, but it should give you an idea of where I stand on this arguement.

Those were the days! The GTO with 3 dueces on a 389 was awesome. They just don't make domestics worth a darned anymore.
I own a 1955 Chevy. Its in storage in Indiana. I am tempted to bring an RB26DETT back to put in it....or maybe a 2JZ.

... Woah... I've always wanted a '55 Chevy Coupe. Ever since I saw 'Two-Lane Blacktop' and 'American Graffiti' I've been on the look-out.
Unfortunately, I am in no means to restore an antique muscle car.
Anyways, a 2JZ GTE or RB26DETT into a '55 Chevy? God I cant wait to see how the Hardcore Muscle car guys respond to that
'... Errr... Wat' da hell's that in der mayne?'
Sorry... Got Off-Topic there, all apologies. :D

Small town Northern Indiana rednecks would die. It would be the end of rural americana as we know it.
I have always been a purist with the car. I have had it since 1974 and always wanted everything to be 100% stock as from the factory. But I AM tempted, now that I have seen what can be done with 6 cylinders. Jr's RB26 is going to be sitting at around 650 HP. The American muscle nuts back home would have a fit.
It aint an Impala....but it would be sweet. I have always loved the old school Chevy. From the mid 30s to around '67 or '8.

impala was first the skyline (prince at the time) came out in 57' and the impala later but the prince skyline did not have the round tails until the mid 60s i believe.
also the 409 was not all that great of a motor. for the time it was great yes. but when the caddilac 472 came out it was the new gm power house of doom. then in 70 the caddy 500 (not the 501 there was NO such thing) came and that blew everything away nto onyl was it the lightest big block but it had the most power at the lowest rpm. there was a ford something that never whent into production because the idiots at nascar but the 500 at 425hp at 5000rom and 575 torque at 3000rpm at crank was the most powerful motor and still the best bang for the buck. that is why i love them. when someone wants to make like 700hp or so yeah then it gets mor expensive but if you want a motor that has 500hp and 675 torque for about 1300 bucks that is the motor. i know i have one rips the road like hell in the 240z scared the hell out of me the first time i took it out. never in my life had i felt that kind of power and all at 3000rpm!

i've dreamed night after night of an all wheel drive RB26DETT powered Chevy Corvette C2. A mixture of my two favorite cars that I feel is possible to create while not disgracing either side.

Imagine an RB26DETT in this! M3S is right. An old vette with an RB26 would be sweet. (They ride like log wagons, but I like the pre-Stingray C1s best)
