I am looking to get a 1998 Aurora very soon. I found a real nice one, but the guy mentioned a stalling problem. I looked it up and saw that maybe replacing the crankshaft sensors really helps...
Should i stay away from this car or is the stalling problem not that bad?
Any help or tips on buying an Aurora would be great....
thanks....

Try test driving the car and see if the SES light comes on. And when it does take it and get it scanned. Maybe something as easy as a fuel pressure regulator.

How many miles on the car? Is there an extended warranty? When is the last tune-up? Usually a car like this (Aurora) has a trail of paperwork, (workorders).:2cents: Could be that a tune-up & throtle body clean out will help this stalling problem. :smokin:

Mine started stalling on left turns and became slow to start also. A $67 fuel pump preasure reg did the trick. It's a 10 minute job and all you need may be a set of pliers.

Ok. I saw this somewhere else in this forum. What in the world do LEFT turns have to do with an Aurora stalling out? Please help me on this one, Thanks!

Ii surely would not be the best thing that could happen. But you have to see what is causing the light and the only way that I know to do that is to get it scanned.
As far as the stalling, I am guessing that it is going to be the fuel pressure regulator. The FPR is about a 70 dollar bart and only takes a few minutes of your time. It took me about 30 minutes because I had no clue what I was doing and I had never really worked on a car before.
So in your case, I would say that the SES light not coming on is a good sign. So, do yourself a favor if you end up getting the car. Get some kind of a warranty from the place, change the FPR and take it for a drive. If it keeps stalling, then you have more leverage when dealing with the price if in fact you still want the car. If it doesn't, then you have yourself a dependable car and you might even get them to reimburse you for the price of the part.
Good Luck!
