This is my first post and I'm hoping somebody can help me here.I changed the timing belt on a 2000 metro and now I can't get it to start! It ran fine before.I lined all the marks up.Spark is good.No codes.I had a mechanic friend of mine check things out and he's as stumped as I am.We've checked cranking timing, compression, leakdown. The only thing we've uncovered that is out of place is that it is dumping about ten times as much fuel as it should during cranking.Does anybody have an idea of what I'm overlooking here? Thanks

Does your cam pulley have a mark that has a 60 and another that has an 80? If so you need to use the 80 mark to time it out. I found this out the hard way myself

The cam gear has an I and an E mark on it with a notch in the lip of the gear that lines up with the mark on the valve cover.

when you set the top gear the cam locating dowel should be pointing straight down, with the crank at TDC

Mine has a 60 and an 80 and if you went with looks you would time it at the 60,however,after I timed it and pulled my hair out I realized that it needs to be at the 80 after that it was fine
