hey all.. just bought myself a 1999.5 jetta 2.0 w/ 60k miles on it.. got it real cheap ($3,000) :iceslolan .. due to the fact that it was in an accident.. minor damage to the rear end that was repaired (straightened out trunk well.. straightened out trunk.. replaced bumper).. paid a friend of my father 1,500 to fix it all.. and he did a good job
my only concern are, i cant open the trunk with the remote button on the alarm key, i have to go either inside the car and press the switch, or use the key itself to unlock it.. also, the panic button on my key used to work, now it dosent.. my turn signals are flashing too fast, and whenever i use the alarm key to lock the car, it locks the car, but without the beep reminder.. sometimes the lock on my left side back door stays open too, while all the locks on the other doors are closed.. even after trying to lock repeaditly.. only way it goes down is if i unlock and lock quickly right after.. then all locks go down... thats pretty much it.. other than that.. no problems!.. anyone have any idea what the problem is?????.. thanx

Sounds like you need a new remote electrical fob portion. They go bad after a couple years of use. There about 130$ at the vw dealer then you should get the fob adapted to the car.

The fob comes in 2 pieces. The electrical portion is the piece with all the buttons. You just simply pull the key apart. Only a vw dealer can program it to your car though.
